I came across a thread for a source for crypto that was in capsules and you have to have your MD order for you.

I think it was much cheaper than the tinctures that Buhner recommends.

I cant find it please help.

Thank you

Check the full herb name. Is it Crytolepis sanguinolenta?

Be very careful, the capsules may be a very different kind, not at all what you need. I've seen other distant cousins even at Amazon and I got very excited at first . . . until I noticed that the name was not the same all the way through.

The second name of an herb really matters. Some with the same first name may be cousins but might as well come from different planets sometimes.

Also be certain of the conditions in which it grows, is tended, how it is processed & packaged, etc. That all really matters, too. How the people who work the herbs are compensated and how the land is protected also figures into the cost, and future sustainability.

Those suggested by Buhner have been assessed on several points for quality, and fair trade practices, too. If you find another source that seems to be of top quality, you might post a question at his website for his input. I'm sure he'd love to know of all the options, actually.

This is such a rare herb, from such a tiny piece of land, really, that it's hard to get.

CRYPTOLEPIS sanguinolenta - a links set

If what you are taking about actually IS the right kind, I would hope someone would post a link.

Did you see it here?

As for an MD needing to order, though, that sounds like there may be some pharmaceutical tweaking to take it from supplement to prescription. Some "tweaking" can change the action of the herb (sometimes good, sometimes not).

Nothing here in the archives for the past 30 days, in either medical or general forum with "cryptolepis" in the subject line.

When searching, also search the common misspelling "cryptolepsis."

I have not seen mention of it in capsules.

It is available from woodland essence for $40 for 8 oz in alcohol tincture. And from Infuserve in alcohol-free or alcohol-based tincture for $90 for 16 oz. The Infuserve is peppermint flavored and requires a doc order.

That tincture from Infuserve IS just fine. The doctor's order required there is not so much about the tincture as the company that carries it, the way they are set up.

A ND would also be able to order this from Infuserve.

maybe it was the infuserve one that I saw. I will look into it further.

Thanks for all the great info.

So tired and sick. My neck went out and now I am struggling to figure out if this is a herx or relapse.

The tinctures are stronger. I would not do capsules.
