Embarrassing but here goes.

I have a hemorrhoid issue starting yesterday. I'm in so much pain I did not go to work today (highly unusual for me!). I can't sit, stand, laydown - everything hurts. I've had hemorrhoids before but not like this one!!!

Appears to be a Thrombosed hemorrhoid. Drs office not answering phone and voice mail box full! Need prescription strength relief!!!

I'm taking Epson salt baths, using Prep H (suppository and cream, and tucks!) Icing my behind - which actually makes the pain better for a little while!

Is there anything else I might have available to me in the house or pharmacy that could help with this issue quickly?

We are all friends here, we know a lot about each other, it's not an embarrassing!

I would try sitting on a donut, I think CVS sells them. Here's a couple of site that may help.

No spicy foodsssss - lots of water too.

I learned to throw out the Prep H and OTC & rx strength meds for essential oils.

Myrrh essential oil does wonders for me. At first I did blend it with lanolin oil but I found using myrrh straight up to be more relieving for me.

Some people can be sensitive to some essential oils and need to mix them with a carrier oil such as almond oil, lanolin etc. Lanolin is a thick oil and will apply to the backside better.

map1131 -Will check to see if I have Myrrh on hand - hopefully I do!!! Thank you!

Steve1906 - I have a donut (have had hemorrhoids before, just not this bad and painful) The donut seems to put pressure in the wrong places and is not working at this moment. I'll also check out the sites you shared. Was on the internet at 2am looking for help, maybe these will provide more info. Thank you!

Finally spoke with a human at the LLMD's office. Left a message for the nurse or dr to call in a prescription for RX help. Waiting on their call back, while sitting on ice after my nice warm Epson salt bath.

this was not in my plans for today!!!!

ooooo... ouch

My dr's remedy is Rutin, Hesperidin and B6 .. take all 3 for 7-10 days. It will dry them up.

If you can't find those locally, go to Swanson's Vitamins and order them. Very cheap.

Coconut oil with Cypress essential oil made into suppositories works wonders on my hemorrhoids (mine are internal)... So maybe applying some coconut oil and if you have it, a drop of Cypress...

Forget the donut. Best thing is to lie on your side as much as you can to minimize the blood pressure down there.

I got a prescription for something called Proctofoam. It works wonders. If the essential oils don't work for you, get your hands on that stuff. I always make sure to have some in the medicine cabinet just in case.

I remember that pain well. So sorry you're suffering.

The donut works well for some, depending on the severity.

Thanks all. Another day off work due to this issue. I was able to work from home for a little while. Once the pain got too bad too my bottom right to Urgent Care.

Yes, Day 2, no call back from Drs office, their mailboxes are full again, so can't leave a message.

Funny - told the Urgent Care PA I had a hemorrhoid - of course she had to look at it! She says, how are you functioning at all, that's the biggest one I've ever seen. Told it was 1/2 the size it was yesterday. I would what she would have thought yesterday had she seen it?

PA would provide referral to get it lanced. No thank you! We discussed ProctoFoam and was happy with that. Take the prescription to pharamacy, long way, have hubby pick it up for me - NOT ProctoFoam but ProctoCreme - External use only. Not what I wanted. Hopefully it will help.

I have appointment with LLMD on Friday - he will get a piece of my mind on his office lack of return calls. Hopefully he'll also give prescription for ProctoFoam!

Feeling better today, but still in a lot of pain. Hopefully back to work tomorrow.

Hello, I found something years ago that was very helpful and completely non-toxic.

It is called, "anu-ice". Promise, I have zero commercial interest in this product.

Basically, it is a plastic gizmo filled with some sort of gel. It's an "outie".....you store it in the freezer, put some lubricant on it (i chose a natural salve rather than what they sell) and then slowly insert it while you either lay on your side in bed or while sitting on the toilet.

It was very helpful for me.

You can google "anuice" and they also carry it (just checked) via amazon.

Hope this helps ~

this is kind of funny....

my sister had a hemorroid that was so bad they put her in the hospital and had to cut it out.

surgery was the only option for her.

she was on her honeymoon in hawaii.....

RiverSpirit - thank you. Looked it up!!

My sense of humor must kick in now though - hopefully I don't offend anyone, I'll keep it clean!

Hubby volunteered to run over to the adult "book store" and buy something similar that he thought might help the other night. I turned him down on the offer, but now may have to rethink this!!!

LOL!! Trying to keep my humor through all this.

Was able to go back to work today, after being off for 2 because of this. Still in pain, not so severe though, and it is slowly repairing itself.

I have LLMD appointment tomorrow, so will ask for Proctofoam and keep it around for emergencies like this!

Thank you all for sharing with me !!!!

Hemorrhoids breakthrough: relief at last

BALTIMORE, Md. —
The pain and discomfort from hemorrhoids can be debilitating. The swollen and inflamed veins impact more than 15-million people in the US. While there are many treatments out there, most are either ineffective or have serious side effects. Now there is a new non-invasive treatment that is making these bleeding blood vessels disappear almost effortlessly.

Thomasine Brown is finally able to relax after enduring a painful problem for two years.

“Excruciating pain,” Thomasine Brown, told Ivanhoe. “I couldn’t even sit straight up, because the hemorrhoids were just that bad.”

The bus driver could hardly work and was finally driven to seek help.
“I had to keep bouncing from cheek to cheek because of the one that was on the outside,” Ms. Brown said.
It’s a problem Doctor Sergey Kantsevoy sees every day.
“It’s uncomfortable, it makes life miserable and in the past the only option was to go for surgery,” Doctor Sergey Kantsevoy, M.D., Ph.D., of the Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD told Ivanhoe.
Now a new FDA cleared device offers an easy, less painful alternative.
“One therapeutic session, we never have to repeat it and the patient never complains of any pain or discomfort,” Doctor Kantsevoy explained.
Known as the HET Bipolar System, the device is made up of a small plastic tube and built-in treatment window that’s placed in the rectum.
“And you capture with that device the hemorrhoid,” Doctor Kantsevoy said.
Once captured, radiofrequency energy is used to cut off the blood supply to the vessel.
“And because no blood comes in there, the hemorrhoids shrink and disappear,” explained Doctor Kantsevoy.
The outpatient procedure takes under a minute.
“No recovery, no lost time from work,” said Doctor Kantsevoy.
Thomasine Brown says, “I felt immediate relief right after.”
It’s a simple treatment that gave Thomasine her life back.
The HET Bipolar System is currently used in the treatment of folks with grade one, two, or three hemorrhoids. The most serious cases—grade four, must be sent to surgery.
