Hello. I would like to know what happened in the weeks and months after you got the Neuropathy and stoppped the Flagyl. Did it get better, worse, and when. Did it lead to other symptoms?

Thank you, I am very scared about this.

It gave me SEVERE peripheral neuropathy. It was excruciating to run water over my hands (or feet, hot or cold), to pick up even a piece of paper, to make a sandwich. I took a lot of supplements -- I think alpha lipoic acid was particularly helpful but what helped the most was my acupuncturist sticking needles into the tips of my fingers and toes -- sounds horrible, but actually I think if she had not done that I would still have peripheral neuropathy. Even with that, it lasted months, tapering off some over time so I could do things a little, but it was terrifying.

However, I did not stop the Flagyl immediately when I experienced numbness, tingling, and nerve pain (in fingers and toes) and in fact let it get so bad I could barely walk before I stopped, as I was so sick and afraid of stopping a drug that could help me (and nobody had warned me to stop). As I understand it, the sooner you stop the drug the better chance of the symptoms reversing.

sorry to interrupt the question at hand - I took flagyl for 2 weeks and in the middle of the second week I noticed that both my thumb fingers - the nail parts- were extremely painful, almost numb. can it happen just in one finger on each hand ? is this a SE of flagyl?

My neuropathy from flagyl is 90% better but I stopped it within days of the pain. It gave me nerve pain and I knew it was the flagyl.

consider ReMag supplement and/or B vitamins to help
