I will admit one reason I am still battling the lyme symptoms is because I am so afraid of taking meds. Anyone else?

In the beginning I was excited to finally get a dx and treatment for this long battle of not knowing why I felt so bad. So treatment begins ,I expected Herx but not reactions . Seems my body reacted to most everything I tried so the LLMD took me off all abx and tried to build my body so I could tolerate meds ..

Long story short seems I can't tolerate meds like I once did so I am now on lower doses but at the same time I am having such fear of all the meds and not seeing much improvement.

Feel stuck and know I am doing this to myself. I am no longer seeing a LLMD due to travel and financial issues.

Venting , tks.

Yes, I understand. I venture to guess many of us can understand that. Especially since you've had reactions.

I'm currently about to begin a homeopathic protocol and I'm nervous about it also since this is new to me.

I herx like crazy and its always mental and brain herxes which is hard to deal with.

I wish I had advice but I do have sympathy... hugs and prayers for you.

Same thing. I fear meds but lately I have been fearing what the infections are doing to me as a result of not taking meds. Ended up much worse with pots, vertigo, etc. So now I am definitely sticking to meds and hoping these symptoms will improve.

That is where the fear should be placed.

Since your body is having trouble handling drugs in high dosages and since your can't afford your LLMD, would you be open to an herbal approach along with your low-dose meds?

The Buhner protocal is a good place to start.
See the website: www.buhnerhealinglyme.com

I have trouble with antibiotics, too, so my LLMD as me on one antibiotic along with the Beyond Balance herbs, but those can only be purchased through an LLMD.

The herbs and antibiotic together seem to be working fine for me.

The Buhner protocal can be done independently of doctors.

Just thought I'd mention that possibility for you.

Good luck.

It's possible you could have a hard time detoxing and that's why you're reacting so much.

My doc suggested we do the www.23andme.com saliva test that will show genetic enzyme defects that keep up from being able to detox, and then a good Lyme doctor will know how to treat the defects.

I'm real sensitive and I'm doing well with anti-inflams, like mangosteen juice, noni juice, grapeseed extract capsules.

Phyl, i totally understand. i can't tolerate meds everyday. i take them sporadically and it keeps things at bay but it is not helping me get better. Something is blocking me from treating and i can't find or afford a doctor who is knowledgeable enough to put the pieces together.

this is all so confusing. i had the 23&me test done but my llmd had no idea what to do with it or what it meant. all i know is it shows cbs defect and suggests not eating meat. I can't do that i get too weak.

Gigimac - my doc says he's going to know how to treat me after seeing the results of the 23andme test. So it IS possible for knowledgeable docs to know what to do - perhaps you could check around on the East coast to find someone to work with?

Robin 123, Is there a certain kind of Dr. i should be looking for? I'll look into it.

Might consider checking, next time at a docs, for the MTHFR mutation (blood test). What you are describing can happen to those who have the mutations.
