It has b12, caffeine, oriental ginseng root extract, evodiamine, N-acetyl-l-tyrosine, yerba mate, green tea extract, yohimbe hcl, 5-hydroxy-l-tryptophan, vipocetine.

Some of this stuff sounds like it is good for you but not sure. It seems like everything interacts with lyme.

The main ingredient in these types of drinks is caffeine. They throw in the vitamins in as a sales pitch to make it look healthy. In my opinion, I don't think it's a good idea. Caffeine is a stimulant and there is a good dose of it in those energy drinks.

Not sure you want to stimulate a nervous system that is already being stressed.

they usually have splenda in them too which kills all your good intestinal bacteria.

I am not endorsing it per se, but one of the top LLMD's once told me to drink it when I complained of the extreme fatigue! I was surprised to say the least.

That said, these days I do drink a fair amount of coffee---or more usually have it as a coffee enema, so it does me good in the detox dept.

It may not be ideal, but if I don't take a lot of stimulating supplements and caffeine, etc., I am bed/couch-ridden for years

on end. I couldn't go on like that anymore. Some day, I hope to not need it all, but that day doesn't seem to be coming.

Rumigirl,
Are you supplementing for your adrenals? Have you tried Dr. James Wilson's adrenal supplements?

They made a huge difference for my husband when he started them. Went from struggling to get 2 1/2 hours of work in a day to working 5 hours a day! Within a months time!

NO!! Go buy some power drinks like mangosteen or goji or something. Get the lowest sugar content possible.

Look into Rhodiola.
It improves endurance, first used by Russian athletes, soldiers and cosmonauts.

Read comments and reviews for it at iHerb.com.
Read the reviews for "The Rhodiola Revolution" at Amazon.com.

Thanks for all the responses, I had a gut feeling it wouldn't be good to take but it has all this "good" stuff in it so who knows.

I ended up drinking some green tea since it has some caffeine naturally, I believe.

I am going to look into rhodiola and the other suggestions as well.

Beverly, I did not know that about Splenda! It's a good thing I don't use that anymore. I use stevia now. It's as good as we can get, i guess, without sugar.

Indeed, Splenda is not a good thing.

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=029690;p=0

Excitotoxins; MSG; Aspartame; Splenda & "Natural" Flavors (that are not likely natural at all)

I found this out the hard way. It's best to start low & slow with Rhodiola.

Best in a blend with other adrenal herbs. Of all the adrenal supports, rhodiola is one with a bit more punch -- do not take too late in the day, especially when starting out. I'd say don't take after early afternoon at first. It can cause insomnia.

Same is true for some of the ginsengs (but not all).

Still, Rhodiola is a fabulous herb. Just fabulous and seems to do what some of the others can't quite manage by themselves.

Refer to Adrenal thread for some good links.

My early 30s daughter drinks it. I just cringe. It's not good for the healthiest people.

They say these drinks have way more caffeine than what is listed on the can. That alone is a reason to stay away from them.

That's the point. To get you addicted so people keep buying them.

As Keebler says, start low with Rhodiola.
If you read the book, or at least the editorial review of it on Amazon, you'll have a good idea of how to proceed.

The reviews of the many brands at iHerb.com are helpful.
Many people find that one capsule in the morning, and then one at lunch, works for them.

I had just gone into menopause when I first started taking Rhodiola.
My menstrual periods resumed and continued for a year!

Rhodiola helps to balance the HPA axis and the hormones.
It improves endurance.

The author of "The Rhodiola Revolution" has Lyme, and used Rhodiola to help treat herself.

Oh, yes, I've done adrenal supplements for decades, and it only helped very slightly. I've had to take Cortef for years now (low level).

I took Rhodiola for a long time to no avail. My fatigue is industrial grade! Florinef helps, too, but even with all my meds, supplements, and caffeine, I often just barely get above bed/couch-ridden, and sometimes don't manage even that.

Treatment helps the most. But that has been interrupted so much, due to treatment obstacles, it isn't funny.

I am certainly not advocating stimulants for others. I'm between a rock and a hard place. (Sorry, not trying to high-jack the thread).
