I've got a question about thyroid . I have been gaining a lot of weight and have other symptoms of hypothyroid . My tsh when I was think was around 1 and now it's 2.48 I know that's within normal but I'm wondering if anyone's drs have treated with a number like that. ?
I've had my frees tested and they have been in the middle to 3/4 of the normal range
Opinions ?

Hi Jackie,

in Canada, TSH has to be above the reference range to treat.

The gov won't allow free testing unless total TSH is above the ref range.

When I started abx in April I started gaining weight as well.

So far around 20 lbs.

Weight gain can be another symptom of lyme and co. (as can weight loss).

Other posters have said that when they beat illness, their body normalized weight.

I have high TSH 5.0. I have found my best supplement has been Iodoral. Better than natural thyroid supplementation. But that's just me, and I discussed it with my doc first.

Adrenal support is a biggie also.

Best of luck [Smile]

I don't recall my exact numbers, but yes mine were within the reference range but according to my LLMD, they were not "ideal" so he treated. It made a HUGE difference!

I had normal TSH level and low T3, so I went on Armour thyroid, 60mg 2x/day, and it made me feel present again - I really like it!

Greta - I'm not sure where you got your information about the frees testing because I've had it tested TONS of times while my TSH has been I. The normal range !?
