Hi -

I have been on IM bicillin injections for 6 weeks now. At first, I felt fatiqued and no energy and then I actually felt good for a stretch of about 2 weeks, almost normal.

Then suddenly about 5 minutes after my husband gave me an injection about a week or so ago, I couldn't breathe and I had searing pain all the way down my spinal cord. We called 911.

Now ever since then I feel terrible. In addition to all this, I am having extremly itchy skin and scalp like tiny bugs biting me everwhere. My head hurts and my blood pressure is up.

I feel like I am having a reaction to the bicillin. I can't stand the itchiness and have never experienced this on any of the antibiotics I have tried before. However, I was on bicillin injections for 6 months in 2011, and this did not happen to me back then.

What do you think? herx? or allergic reaction?

You can become allergic to any medication at any time even if you were able to tolerate it before.

Trouble breathing sounds like an allergic reaction. I wouldn't inject again.

You should have an epipen at home. Ask you doctor for a prescription for one. It may save your life while you wait for an ambulance.

I would call the manufacturer of the product and report your adverse event. It may be a tainted product.

--and yes it does sound like an allergic reaction. I would not do another shot.

I wondered if it could be tainted too. It's hard to tell. I don't see any particles in it. It looks white without any particles, but honestly you never know.

I'm trying to remember if that started with the second box or the last shot in the first box.

I just know that at first I felt good, even normal and now I am horribly miserable.

I hate the ups and downs that come with this disease. It's always unpredictable and difficult to know what is going on (herx or allergic reaction, or side effect).

Okay, will stop the injections. I haven't had one since tuesday night, but the whole body itchiness is making me climb the walls.

The next one could kill you. Please call your doctor.

It could be tainted with NO visible evidence.
