I have been on Rifampin in the past and combined with Doxy for 3 months and then adding Zithro for the next 4 months I went into remission from Bartonella for 14 months.

My current LLMD has had me on only Rifampin and IV Rocephin for 4 months and my Bart is now getting worse. She hesitates to do anything right now because I have yeast but each day I get more symptoms of Bart.

Well, I am due for a refill on my Rifampin and my pharmacy is asking that she fill it for 3 months and she only, for some reason wants to fill it for 1 month. She refuses to refill and I have 1 pill left. What the heck could her reasoning be?

I feel my Bart has been under treated to some degree and I am getting sicker and sicker with it. What are some options for me?

Thanks.

Thank you. My liver enzymes are actually only stable on Rifampin, so must be the Bart itself that was causing the mild elevation.

My symptoms are top frontal headache, eye issues, insomnia, anxious facemaking (lip biting, lip pursing, etc.), cracking shoulders, sore soles, stiff neck, limb jerking when relaxed, aching fingers, and heavy legs. That is about all of my symptoms and they are way more prevalent than my couple Lyme symptoms.

Cattail,

How long do you think you had bart before treating it? We are starting treatment for bart now and was just recently infected. I am praying that us catching it early it will be easier to treat, but I'm not so sure.

I don't know what your docs reasoning could be.

I've noticed an improvement from Bart by only 40 days of rifampin-the idea of stopping rifampin chills me to the core.

I am sorry that your doc is (sounds like) stopping rifampin.

Cat,

Why is pharmacy looking for 3 month re-fill? cost savings? mail program?

Take the Rif re-fill for one month, Maybe she's just being cautious with over prescribing in case she has to make you stop everything to address the yeast, or just covvering you until your next appointment. When on IV you shoud be seeing her every 4 to 5 weeks. Correct?

Maybe the IV Rocephin is finally starting to hit the buggers and is causing the flares/herx sx.

I was on IV rocephin, zith and rifampin for a few months, then switched Rif for Mepron for babs flare. I also got frustrated when things seemed to get worse the more I treated.
