I am curious what other children have been put on in terms of how many abx at a time and for how long, pulsing or continuous.

For us we are on Ceftin, Zithromax for 4 day a week then Tinidazole 3 days a week.

One of the things I worry about is by going off the zith each week there could be resistance to this drug over time. We are treating borrelia, bartonella, and myco p.

What are others thoughts about staying in the zith while on Tindamax?

Please share you regimens and or thoughts.

Well, every child is certainly different, of course, and harder to treat, because they may not be able to effectively communicate depending on their age and status.

Azithromycin has one of the longest 1/2 lives, 11-14 hours, so it continues to build in the body with each dose, which is why it is not given daily (typically)

When my dd was treated, 2 antibiotics at a time, and a pulsed cyst buster (like Tindamax)
Tindamax can produce a hard herx affect-

A lot of detox is usually needed--

Hi KH111:

Our daughter was on Zithromax & Mepron for 2 years, no pulsing just every morning and night.

She tolerated these 2 drugs well.

Tindamax was pulsed for 6 months but due to side effects this was stopped.

The Zith & Mepron took care of the Babesia (probably 14 months to clear this).

Unfortunately after the 2 years while we thought she was clear of the Lyme it came back after 6 months.

This was a relapse, not re infection.

Bart rashes showed up this time (still negative on the tests) so she is now on Doryx (a time release doxy) and rifampin (initially on dorxy and zith but after 2 months switched the zith to rifampin).

She is now 13.

Our daughter was treated for lyme/bartonella for 2 years.

For the first year she was given biaxin/rifampin daily, along with A-Bart, A-L.

At the end of the year, pulsed tindamax (3 days per week) was added for 3 months.

Upon withdrawl she relapsed, so her protocol was changed to azithromycin, minocycline, malarone, plaquinel, A-Bart, A-L.

After continuous treatment with this combination for 3 months tindamax was added and then the whole 5 abx were pulsed (4 days on, 3 days off) for another 4 months.

After she stopped herxing with this pulsed combo, abx were withdrawn (April 2013).

She is now on full doses of Buhner's bartonella herbs - japanese knotweed, houttuynia, sida actua, teasel.

We are also using A-Bart, methylated B vitamins to address her MTHFR deletion, low dose astragalus/ColdFX, liposomal glutathione, phosphatidyl choline, phosphatidyl serine and some other supplements suggested by our LLMD.

She is still having low-grade herx reactions to changes in herbal protocols, but these are short lived. She is doing extremely well, with no indication of relapse. Her CD57 has increased from 18 in Jan 2013 to 45 in Sept 2013. Her bartonella IgG titers have fallen from 1:180 to 1:60 (Igenex).

I use a stacked Excel bar chart daily to chart her symptoms against protocol. This makes it easy for both me and our doctors to visualize treatment responses, herxes vs relapse, flares with other infections, etc.

I just hope the graph goes in a progressing way.

My 3 kids did 2 years of multiple abx through Dr. J in CT years ago. That could not heal their lyme and coinfections. We switched to alternative therapies such as herbs (a modified Cowden protocol and later the Dr. K lyme cocktail) and healed from lyme/coinfections.

Later two of mine developed PANDAS/PANS symptoms when our well water become contaminated with parasites. Through this we discovered a wonderful chlorine dioxide (MMS) protocol which is healing my childrens' PANDAS. It also heals autism and ADHD and lyme and most coinfections, among other things. It is a remarkable therapy and I highly recommend it. You can read the posts about MMS and CD by doing a search. And read my thread entitled, "For those with sick kids." You can also join the facebook group called CD Autism to learn more or go to CDAutism.org and watch the videos and research further. It is healing lyme along with so many other things.
