Can someone point me to more information on the Cowden protocol? My LLMD mentioned he might take me off antibiotics and try this instead after my next appointment since it helps with detox.
What is involved? How much is it going to cost me? And has anyone had symptom improvement from it? If so, what kinds of improvement?
I'm not making much progress these days.

Kat, there is a good video on Youtube from a speech Dr C gave at an ILADS conference late 2012....I think it was posted on YT in Feb of this year. It lasts about an hour and gives a very good introduction to his program.
Nutramedix has some ways that people on low incomes can buy the protocol more cheaply and you can also get the products elsewhere. There is a Lyme Herbal group on Facebook that has quite a lot of info about ways to save on it.
Quite a lot of people in that group have big improvements: i think Dr C claims that it helps about 80% . I am not sure about that yet in my case, but have been ill for so long that The jury is out until I have been on it for at least a year. Some people believe that on average a successful Lyme treatment takes about a month for every year that you have been ill. Given that for most people, the illness is a complicated mix of infections, fungi, metals , other radiation or chemical toxins, that timespan seems reasonable to me.......based on that, I should give it multiple years!
Some people do notice improvements much earlier, perhaps at the 3 month mark , some do not improve, others follow the program only partially or without following the general advice.
As well as the Youtube video, there are videos and information sheets on the Nutramedix site for you to read.
There are 14 products on the program, some supportive ones like detox herbs, enzymes, magnesium, zeolite for metals and 3 different pairs of antimicrobial herbs. You start with a few days on detox only, the use Samento and Banderol as your antimicrobials for the first 3 months, ramping up from one drop of each to 30 drops twice a day. After that, you start to rotate the antimicrobials for periods of 12 and a half days, with one and a half days of detox before the next pair to allow the bugs to come out and play briefly before being hit again.
