my doctor has found that I have severe immune deficiency.
first low Igg
now basically non existing Mannose Binding Lectin level.
deficient is less than 100.
severe is less than 50.
mine came back at <0.5
could explain a lot!
I guess the mbl issue is genetic.
haven't been told a treatment plan yet, but sounding like IVIG.

Had never heard of your problem before. A quick google search found some interesting results.

Mannose binding binding lectin is basicially needed for certain immune system functions.
Be sure and read the Wikipedia list of infections you might be more susceptible to.
And the really interesting article says that ticks secrete an inhibitor to mannose binding lectin which is one of the ways they are able to transmit lyme disease. Apparently mannose binding lectin is needed by the human immune system to fight lyme disease.

MBL is part of the first line defense immune system. It is supposedly rare. On its own it isnt always an issue, but add the low Igg and its a big problem..
Bea, I am not surprised and I appreciate the information. I suspect that a lot of us with chronic lyme have this.
if you did 23andme, you can look to see if you have varients is present.
in the raw data section, you can type in MBL2 and compare the 20 or so snps.
