I have been on here before but just re-registered under a different name because I hadn't been on here in so long.
I treated for Lyme disease and co-infections from 2007 through 2011 with various antibiotics,cyst buster and homeopathic remedies.
I was very sick with neurological symptoms,pain,vertigo,anxiety,etc.etc.
I got Better after much perserverance!!!!! I would get flare-ups if I would do too much but I was back!
So here is the question-I had a hysterectomy 3 weeks ago. It was a 6 hour surgery!
I am trying hard to recover and two of my Lyme symptoms are back with a vengeance-EXTREME EXHAUSTION and muscle aches.
I know that fatigue is part of the normal recovery process but NOT this debilitating fatigue where I literally cannot move!
ANYONE have a similar experience ? How did you treat it and did it dissipate???
I am not going on antibiotics again!

When I had my gallbladder out, symptoms got ugly. Rest as much as you can. Make sure you eat properly. Avoid gluten if you can.
Are you still taking any detox supplements? Some of us need them even after getting better.

I am 4 months out from deep lumpectomy and 2 months out from knee replacement
I am tired. I have written it on here. Other ppl who dont have lyme are still having problems 6-9-12 months later
My longest surg was 3 hrs...your 6 is a long surg
I would let yourself rest...eat healthy...is there a spport group for that?
In the past i usually feel better after surg cuz of the iv abx and pain meds

Were you given steroids? If so, this could be part of the reason you are flaring.
Also, I think whenever the immune system is stressed by surgery, divorce, etc. symptoms can increase.

I was wondering about the steroids too. I imagine they pumped you full of them. Aside from the possible Lyme flare it can give you, you may need to be very careful with your diet.
Eat NO SUGAR, no white foods, no gluten, no dairy ... for as long as you can maintain that!!
Take tons of probiotics, etc too.

- Whatever influences there are, certain support methods may really help. However, if lyme (or other stealth infection) has reared, it won't be enough.
I think you should consult a LLMD. The ADVANCED LABS TEST might be in order to see if lyme has erupted.
However, you say that you do not want to go back onto antibiotics, so it may make more sense to consult a LL ND who can help in various ways of both addressing infection head on, repair of surgical interventions and support from the stress on your body.
Excitotoxins; MSG; Aspartame; & "Natural" Flavors (that are not likely natural at all).
In this set, see the "Hidden Sources of Gluten" relevant as you likely were exposed to that in hospital food (assuming you may still be gluten-free, even so long after your lyme treatment.)
In any case, you were likely given lots of additives and melted plastics. Now that you are home, your good food choices will do better for you.
I think a lot of people are made much worse just by the stuff they call food in hospitals. -

When I had my knee replaced, all my Lyme symptoms came back and increasingly became worse...

Thank you for all your responses. As far as I know I did not have any steroids-just iv liquids.
Believe it or not I was only in the hospital for one night so I did not really eat the hospital food.
It was a robotic laparascopic procedure-easier recovery. Recovery is going very slowly for me.... I spoke to LLMD tonight and she wants me to take lots of vit.C,MSM,Vit.B-12,Co-Q10,Fish oil and NT Factor -all to help my body regenerate and heal.
And YES I am going to start being more diligent with my diet. I usually eat very healthy but have been eating more sugar-comfort food!

I do make a bigdeal before each surgery about saying no steroids
I have no idea if they listen
I also start a conversation about what abx will be used...docs areusually surprised to see i am abx literate...but when rhey do they give me choices

Hi Crazyhavanese. I have been told that hysterectomies are very tough to recover from... So hopefully you are just healing and not stirred up the Lyme. Like everyone says take it easy and be good to yourself and give yourself the time you need.
Couldn't help notice your name... I have two havanese. Do we know each other from other forums?

Hi Kudzuslipper- Yes I have a crazy and adorable Havanese. She is choc. and white and quite beautiful! She is a little over a year old so she is quite active. It has been a challenge to take care of her during this recovery! She loves playing with other dogs and she would love to have a brother or sister but one is enough for me. Are your 2 related? I have seen your name on this forum but have not been active on here for a while and just changed my name! Are you talking about a Havanese Forum? Thanks for the support!

i had a 2d tonsillectomy when i was 35 - i didn't know i had lyme back then altho i'd felt unwell for a long time and they thought the tonsillectomy would work - WELL, i crashed like nobody's business a few days after the surgery...now i know it was Lyme....

When changing to a smaller dog i fell in love with havs
I tried to adopt one from nc...he ha d 3 legs but loved the ocean and i kayak salt water but it didnt work out
