Flagyl has helped in the past but I am kinda scared to take it now because i feel my yeast issue is getting out of hand. I believe I read you should not take flagyl if yeast is a problem?

Is there an herbal equivalent?

Grapefruit seed extract is good for yeast and it is also supposed to get the cyst form of borellia. Although it seems like "just another herb", it is actually so strong it can be used to sterilize.

You buy it in liquid and add drops to water. It will burn the dickens out of you if you take it straight or too strong so you have to be careful with it.

I think it is one of the few herbal remedies that actually did me some good. I couldn't tolerate flagyl or any of the other drugs for getting the cysts, except tindamax, which I took for a very short period of time. I took GSE for years. I am pretty sure the borellia is gone so the GSE must have done the job on the cysts.

I just started taking it again for yeast.

nefferdun, can you post what brand you used, how many drops and how often? thanks!

could I use it along with minocycline(same day) or do I have to alternate?

I think Nutribiotic is the best brand. Also, it's easier to buy empty gelatin caps and put the grapefruit seed extract in them. That way you won't taste any of that nasty taste, and believe me it's nasty, and you can use more of it that way.

I'm pretty sure it's thought to break up bio film, as well.

Most folks here mention either the brand name Agrisept-L - you can get it on ebay from Kiverson;

or NutraBiotic GSE

Agrisept-L also includes Lemon or Lyme and possibly Orange extract. check out their web site.

I have been using NutraBiotic with mino for some time with no issues, and worked up to 20 drops 2x/day. Shop around for this brand... prices vary widely. I think I got it at pureformulas.com

Someone on the forum recommended Agrisept-L so that is what I am using now.

Abxnomore, if you put it is gelatin capsules, will it burn your stomach? I guess if you drank a large glass of water with the capsule, that might protect you. I tried putting the drops in my mouth once, without water, and it burned my mouth and throat so bad I was miserable.

I hope it works on bio-film.

I never had trouble with it burning my stomach. It's a much better way to take it than putting it in water.

GSE kills a lot of stuff - it's antiparasitic, antifungal antimicrobial and antiviral according to a book I read a while back.

I tried taking it and couldn't even tolerate one pill! Now that I've beaten down my Babesiosis I would like to try it again.

Thanks for the responses. I will look into GSE. Would it be horrible to take flagyl now with some yeast issues?
