As many know the price of Doxycycline has sky-rocketed. This video/article tells more.

You will also note although both Target and Walmart still have their $4.oo Prescription Plans- doxy is no longer on the lists. BUT, you may find other meds you need still on it and you might be able to save big amounts.

Walmart

It's called greed. Probably in response to a great increase in demand for it. I'm sure that you have a good idea what has caused the increase in demand.

Ivermectin did the same thing about a year ago.

Argh!

I agree with LP.

The old adage about there being no money in antibiotic development or manufacture no longer holds true....

Does anyone know how long doxy keeps?

I have 2 months worth in the fridge...don't want to take them one day and find out they've gone toxic.

It is nothing but greed. Here is a pet site where you can order it. A typical script of 400mg a day would cost $4 a day.

Doxy is supposed to last one year from the fill date.

Interesting though. I bought a bottle of Fish Doxy & it was the EXACT same pill color wise & markings (numbers) off the bottle. It had an expiration of 3 years.

I tried & and got the same nausea feeling that I get from human doxy and I could not tell the difference. I bought mine from ebay & all I did was a search for "fish Doxy" as someone on this forum told me.

And it likely does NOT matter whether it's in a refrigerator or not.

Yes, it becomes toxic after a year or so. It's one of the few that do---or the only one I know of that does.

It's disgusting what they are doing. Craven greed.

In the USA we pay the Highest price for medicine in the world - over 12X or more-

Its a total GREED pure and simple -

one example Quinine - one of the cheapest and widely used meds in the world-

In one day the price went from $20 to $179 for 20
pills -- FDA /Big Pharma now only allows One company to import quinine into USA -

If you live in USA you may be able to get a script reduction card as I did when I was on welfare.

I am in PA and this card is good for my life (I am no longer on welfare, but have no insurance, so this is a lifesaver)

I have been all over- Costco, Walmart, .... and they all think their discount for uninsured is best, but I give them this card and it is always lower.

Just a thought. If you have insurance iwth a rx plan then that may be better, but you can use it even if you have insurance to see which is cheaper and in the case of Doxy may it would be?

Also I found it pays off to call all around as prices change from day to day as well as LOCATION of stores! (one costco had abx for 100$ and one had it for $40- for ex.)

I do think it's all a racket, but what can we do?

If anyone wants info on this card I can look it up- PM me.

Rite-Aid, with their free Wellness card (just name & phone number given I think), gave me a prescription for 30-day doxy (2 pills a day, 100mg) for $34 with no insurance, in September or October. When Walmart had charged me $32 for 10 pills when I thought it would be $4, earlier.

Not sure if their price with wellness card is still low, but worth checking.....
