Started Saturday with just Primaquine/Chloroquine. Took reg dose of Primaquine and loading (double) dose of Chloroquine.

Nothing.

On Sunday I added in Malarone and Artesunate and a Chinese herb formula for infections. Still on reg dose Prim and double Chlor.

Biggest herx in ages. Like on the couch all day with exhaustion, air hunger, spacey, dizzy, standard Babs' stuff. But no fever or sweats. A good med protocol always controls my fever and sweats.

Same protocol today, but I also took a sauna. Very mild herx so far.

I have 2 weeks of this protocol to take. Will keep you posted.

Malarone works for me when combined with other meds my Babs is still sensitive to. On its own, Atovaquone doesn't work anymore.

So relieved to find meds my Babs still responds to. This has been a horrific battle of med resistance.

I'm also taking the supplement IP-6 twice a day on an empty stomach. It turns off the TNF-alpha cytokine pathway, which has given me so much trouble with inflamm.

My last C4a was 65,000. (Range is 0-2830)

I hope it works for you. When I did chloroquine, I had a thyroid flare. Be careful.

IP6 binds with iron too and that is good.

Have you tried Coartem? Or Ivermectin?

I will watch for thyroid symptoms.

I took lots of Ivermectin. Many, many months. Seemed OK at first, but did not achieve improvements that lasted.

Loved Coartem. Will go back on that after this round, probably til done with Babs.

If I remember correctly the thing that landed hubby in the ER and hospital when he tried primaquine and chloroquine years ago was extremely high blood pressure which was a new symptom for him. He also had many new petechiae show up during that treatment.

And of course he had his usual babesia symptoms which for him were headaches, back pain, dizziness/off-balance problems and seizure-like episodes.

I would be cautious about adding too many other babs herbs and meds all at once to the combo. It is so hard to know how aggressively to treat and what to expect from any combo of meds/herbs.

Hang in there and let us know how you are doing.

Thanks for the warning, Bea.

I'm only taking meds and herbs 1x/day, as that's how Prim/Chlor is dosed. So I'm not in one continuous herx. I'm fine by morning.

But, yes, everything with due caution.

I hope this does the trick for you. One person posted years ago that it cured babesia for them - gone from the forum so it must have been permanent!
