Anyone tried this combo? Had a phone consult with a llmd today went well, so good to have someone that understands your symptoms.
Guess you could call this my protocol , week one probotics, zantac, slipery elm, all this to get the gut and esoph ready for the abx. Will try Ritabuten and Clindamycin, 5 days on and 2 off if tolerated will gradually increase dosage and add some herbs slowly, not sure yet which ones but some in the Cowden protocol.. The llmd thinks I have bart too, even though I have two Igenex negative test.
She did say I would be knocked off my but for about 6 weeks oh how I dread it but maybe it won't be that bad.
I have said I wasn't going to do this again but I should learn never to say never.

actually this sounds like a bartonella protocol, as opposed to Lyme, but a good one for that too.

Well sucks, was hoping to start treating both. Maybe one thing at a time. Tks for the info.
Just spoke with the compound pharmacy and the meds are costing over two thousands dollars so forget this combo..By the way he said he was concerned about what this would do to my gut even with biotics ..

I didn't know you could get Rifabutin in the US. It is an alternative to Rifampin that some European doctors think is more effective. Another less expensive drug you could try for bartonella is Bactrim DS.

Allergic to Bactrim.. After the phone consult bill and the pricy meds I can't afford this.
No, can't do IVs due to the cost. I feel like I am going to have to find someone that will take medicare .

Going to try the clindamycin and rifampin due to the cost .. Thank goodness my PA is working with my LLMD so I can afford this. Not doing the compound pharm just the regular rx of these meds..
This way my ins will pay for meds except the supplements.

Rifampin + clindamycin also is good for babs---no? Certainly the clindi is, and someone just said rifampin, too. I'm looking at doing the two, plus other abx.
BTW, if you do enough nystatin/fluconazole, plus probiotics, that will fairly well take care of your gut. At least for many, maybe not all. It will also depend on how your gut is to begin with. Not that it won't be hard, but it's do-able in my experience.

In order to protect yourself, you need to take Saccharomyces Boulardi TWICE per day, plenty of comprehensive probiotics (meaning many different strains) both away from the abx, plus nystatin or fluconazole with the abx.
And figure out beforehand if you digestive system is in shape for the abx before you start (at aleast via symptoms). I've done clindi without getting C-diff. But all of the above is a MUST, can't skip one day of all of it. Plus, of course, being careful with your diet, no alcohol, sugar, etc., etc.
