I have been getting sicker and sicker.

Tindamax hasn't helped for the other issue.

Symptoms: sweats, temp of 100.7, headache, massive fatigue, massive increase in POTS symptoms, 1 tiny white spot on 1 tonsil.

I felt like death and didn't know what to do. I prayed that that 1 teeny, tiny spot on the tonsil meant SOMETHING...even though my throat felt A-OK, 100% fine.

I took a chance and went to an Urgent Care center and BAM! Positive strep test. What on Earth!?!?!

Hopefully, I will start feeling better with the Amox on board.

Scary how typical infections can just smolder and not give us "normal" signals like "normal" folks get.

Well, glad you went and know what you are dealing with so you can treat. I agree, we do not present in the typical fashion. Feel better soon! Strep is no fun..

I am glad you went to Urgent Care, you might be really hurting soon.

Even before Lyme, I always had symtoms that didn't match anything. I am always the one in a million.

I am sorry, hopefully you will be feeling better in the next few days. You probably will feel much better once the strep is gone!

Take good care...

You need to get the strep out of your system and abx may not do that.

I just finished strep treatment with my new llmd. It is now gone. (herbals)

lots of people live with strep and never know it. Mine would flair up and go away on its own now and then.

Interesting Lax, I've been feeling worse for several weeks now with fevers, sore throat, cough, headaches, worse fatigue, etc... Have even mentioned it to my LLMD. They thought that it was probably viral.

I also have this large white bump on my tonsil that popped up a couple days ago.

They changed my Lyme med from clinda to omnicef a week ago so I was hoping that that would treat whatever infection was brewing. Still hoping it will go away.

When my daughter (no Lyme) was 6 I brought her to the pediatrician for a tummy ache that had gone on for several days. She had no other symptoms & we couldn't for the life of us figure out what was causing it.

It turns out she had Strep Throat! And the pediatrician told us that a persistent tummy ache is one sign (strange, but whatever???). I never would have guessed.

I suppose we should just always try to keep an open mind when it comes to our health...

None of us have ever tested + for strep, and kids throats have been cultured probably a few dozen times since birth and always found negative for strep.

Yet, one of my kids tested + very, very high for strep antibodies in her blood. We had to be on the lookout for PANDAS. Thankfully that's one thing we didn't have to deal with.

Yep, strep is a mysterious one. My kids often get it with tummy aches as the only or first symptom. One time my son looked so well that the doc thought I was crazy for asking for a strep test. It turned out POSITIVE.

Strep can also "hide" in the body. Those throat swabs don't always catch it. It can travel downwards in the body through the GI system, and you can even have vaginal strep infections.

People can also be strep carriers, which means they are contagious but seemingly asymptomatic. More needs to be known about carrier status. With the increase in PANS/PANDAS, it now is thought that maybe carrier status is a larger concern for the carrier. Obviously it's a concern for others around!

As for antibiotics, clindamycin has generally worked the best for clearing stubborn strep cases for us. But it depends on which strain you have.
