Because of my neuro problems I am real eager to try Mino ( along with Tinid ).
But one of my neuro problems is swallowing. And Mino comes with a warning if you have swallowing problems.
How serious are the consequences of having a Mino stick in your throat ?
Is there an alternative ? Probably not since Mino is the best at getting into the CNS.
What about just Tini in the hopes that it improves my swallowing enough for me to add the Mino ?
Any other thoughts ?

Have you watched the video about B12 yet? It talks about the swallowing issue being one of the symptoms of B12 deficiency.
I always eat something after I take pills. It's the only way they will go down.
I think a fellow member here had surgery to remove a stuck pill... so be careful!

By happy coincidence my ND ordered a box of B12 injections for me last week.
It would be a godsend if they helped my swallowing.
And when I want to get funky my wife could stick me with Bicillin in one cheek and B12 in the other !

Reading your replies to my earlier post, you and I have very similar symptoms.
Just stopping the twitching would go a long way to helping my body recover. (yes I take magnesium)
How many calories does 24/7 twitching burn ?
And the hand weakness, I can relate !
Did you have any issues or concerns about having a Mino stick in your throat ?
If you could PM me the dose Mino / Tinid you were on I would be grateful.

Lulubelle- the mino was in capsules. I find capsules easier to swallow if I can position the pill the right way.
Normally I fill my mouth with a sip of water, pop the capsule in, then swallow. Drink some more water. Follow with a bite of food.
Then probably more water to wash the food down.
Although this is getting better. Chicken still gets caught in my throat easily for some reason.
Tinidazole is capsules also.
If you can, ask your doc to ensure the abx are all capsules, or at least an oval shape.
The twitching in my hands is gone now, except in my flare week, or for some reason this last Saturday, which was a bad day for head pain and everything went sideways.
My hands still get weak but I think that is because I have lost so much strenght in them-I need to build the strength back up. Depends on the day.
I went from 200 lbs to 174 lbs. Some fat but I am sure lots of muscle too.
Twitching really taps the energy reserves. You know all about it, I'm sure.

I have heard only good things about it for neuro lyme.

I am intending to take my first ever Mino dose tonight.
I got them in 100 mg tablet form. They are an oval shape.
I intend to crack off about 1/4 of the tablet as my first dose.
I am worried about the side effects - ie dizziness etc.

My concern is about the warning that comes with Mino regarding problems with swallowing.
I am pretty sure Doxy will burn your throat. And Doxy and Mino are both Tetracyclines.
So my question is how bad is it if a Mino does stick in your throat ?

LuluBelle - from what I understand, Minocycline can seriously burn your throat if the pill/capsule dissolves there. The damage is not permanent, but it can be very painful.

I used to take the mino capsules on an empty stomach. The pharmacist told me it was better absorbed that way. And they didn't bother my stomach.
But those were capsules.
Doxy...if I don't take those on a very very full belly, then I get the projectile vomits.
Susan, can you chase the mino with a swallow of a thick liquid, like a protein smoothie of somekind, or a swig of Ensure?
