I have read that rooibos tea is supposed to have wonderful health benefits. I had a cup today and within a few hers I developed severe back pain. Has anyone else had similar issues? I really don't know what could be in the tea that I would be reacting to.

Could be fungus? Many herbs & teas have fungal contamination...

they give roiboos to kids here in Switzerland, Germany, and Holland. But I hate roiboos, I always get tummy aches and strange reactions.

I also react to camomile tea!!!! Supposedly good for newborn babies, but I also react badly to it!!!

I am sorry to hear about your reaction. I have drunk rooibos tea for years without a problem although I have not been drinking it recently.

I am from South Africa and we give it to babies there. It has a neutral ph so its considered to be gentle on the stomach.

I just found it it is a legume. Perhaps I am sensitive to them. I really have not been eating any as I follow the Paleo diet. Never even thought about checking the tea..

Rooibos tea is very high in antioxidants.

I've had kidney pain after taking different antioxidants, such as Resveratrol, and I have no idea why.

Rooibos tea didn't bother me.
