I tried mino once or twice before, I think once. When I tried it at 100 mg twice a day, I think, along with rifampin(!!), I nearly fell flat on my face on the sidewalk!! I could barely walk or anything, I was so dizzy and out of it.

I gather that if I started really slowly and ramped up, that I could possibly tolerate it that way. Is that what others have found? I seem to remember that others have said that.

I need to go off doxy, because of the sun. Not that I get much, but I don't want to live like a mole all summer any more than I already do.

I also gather that some people have had good results on it, right?
Thank you!

Hi,

Yes, Our daughter had to start with 50mg and work up. She always took the Mino with food.

Good luck with your treatment.

Hi Rumi,

Yes, start low and go slow.

Mino has neuroprotetive qualities even at a dose of 50mg a day.

I think that's what Terry wahl takes along with eating paleo.

I started at 200 a day. The herx on day 3 or day 4 was hour long "seizures" and torso contorsion. I had no control over my muscles in my torso.

I at least knew it was getting to my cns at that point... Haha.

Start low, go slow and you should be fine.

It can be ototoxic, so I would review the side effects for it again to be safe.

OMG, Greta, that sounds horrific!! No way Jose am I starting out at full dose. Although I have been treating for a long time.

I just hope that going low and slow helps the dizziness/imbalance, etc. that are actually DRUG SIDE EFFECTS, not herxes. Not sure about that. It happens within minutes of taking it, and apparently is common with women especially.

OTOTOXIC?? Arghh! My hearing and tinnitus is already terrible!! Sigh. This is so hard. Many of the meds are ototoxic. What to do?

I've been on 50mg 2x a day (so half the full dose)
for about a month.
I started even slower and ramped up. I've had some herxing but not as bad as what Greta describes.

Haven't had much in the way of dizziness.
Hopefully it's working and it will help me down the road.

Rumigirl .. Sounds like you may need another drug choice.

It does indeed make a person dizzy.

When I took Mino I had dizziness for about two weeks, and then it went away.
