I'm about to start my very first antibiotic for Lyme.
My doctor told me to make sure I'm taking probiotics. Does anybody have any suggestions as to good probiotics?
Would this be probiotics in the form of pills, or drinks, or yogurts?
How often do you take them, and is there a certain time that is best to take them in relation to your meds?

I was wondering about this same thing. Probiotics are mentioned in Dr. B's guidelines but none of the recommendations state actual quantities. Since probiotics all have different quantities for cultures (in billions) it's hard to know how much is sufficient to properly protect yourself during antibiotic treatment.
This is a good thread, should be very informative for those of us who want to know about proper probiotic supplementation.

I have used 8 Billion Acidophilus & Bifidus since being on treatment . I was on a lot of meds.
It Has worked for me . I took 1 capsule 1 hour before antibiotics or 2 hours after antibiotics

My LLMD put me on VSL #3. It's pricey but it's worth it's weight in gold! There's tons of forums on it if you want to do a little research on it.
I am on three different prescriptions now and a bag full of different detox meds and herbals. I feel like my body processes so much everyday that it's easy to get all backed up.
I drink alot of water and take the VSL three times a day usually after I eat. It also has helped enormously with bloating that I've had.
Since I have been diagnosed I have also gone gluten free! I feel 10 pounds lighter

I always went with a mix of *plain* yogurts & Kefir, along with Acidophilus/Bifidus/etc.) probiotic capsules maybe 1/2 of the time. Always take them atLeast 1 1/2 hrs. but preferably 2 hours away from the antibiotics. Usually afterwards.
