Have had Lyme 10 plus years. Scheduled for surgery on my torn miniscus. Any experiences on having this. Did it effect your Lyme status. I am on ABX but am worried about being thrown in to a tailspin.
Experiences appreciated.

I have a torn cruciate ligament in my left knee. have had it for years. they wanted to operate but I said no.
I had diverticulitis surgery in march and had 12 inches of my colon taken out. it has has caused my lyme to go haywire so, dang, i'm back on abx.

I had surgery for a torn meniscus 11 years ago. I was not diagnosed with Lyme at that point but I know I had it then.
I think it may have taken me longer to get swelling down around my knee with all the inflammation already going on. I did okay. Knee is doing well.

The two arthro surg i had on each knee to clean out mangled mess bb did ti my cartilage were easy-cake-compared to ten yrs later when i h a d knees replaced and seven years after that when i had one knee revised
The arthros kept me goung and able to teach pe quite awhile
But i am disabled now from.knees

Bringing this to the top again. Anyone have any more experiences with arthoscopic knee surgery?
I have a mesial medial meniscus tear that needs cleaning up. Not bone on bone, but do have some normal arthritis in knee they say. I've had this pain for over 2 years now, so hoping it will make my knee better.
Worried about healing with it... I know we can maybe take longer to heal.
Any other info or insights welcome....

It depends on where you are at with the Lyme. If you are highly symptomatic, in a rough place, healing could take a bit longer. Best to be on antibiotics before and after the procedure to keep things from flaring up from the stress of the surgery on your body.
If you are not too bad you should be absolutely fine.
The biggest impact could be on your adrenal glands so give them extra support in the weeks following the procedure. This will help with your energy levels.

Have had three surgeries with Lyme - no big setbacks in the grand scheme of things. Just took longer to heal than a normal person. So I would just plan for that.

I've had several surgeries too. No big changes, except for the time I got a nice hospital infection.
