-Before going chronic with Lyme my lungs burned after working in the basement for months. They burned after 10-12 hr work day & then felt normal after sleep overnight.
-Now after a hot water leak in basement my lungs burn around the clock in the house.
-My nose and throat burn now as well.
-The black things that I thought were dust before around the silicone, around my windows are actually mold colonies.
-Once all 4 of my family members cleaned up downstairs together. 3 of my family members got infections & sinus issues that went away. I never had sinus, but had lungs burn on/off consistently after that particular day(even with respirator usage).
Funny how no one detects the smell much after the leak & cleanup of affected areas directly. Only my nose, throat, & lungs continue to burn & be affected.

Sorry to hear this. I would have thought the black things were dust too.
There may be some spores lingering somewhere if you are still having problems (you might be the canary in the coal mine). Maybe some air testing would help.

We are in a similar scenario however it got so bad I had to leave home.
Perhaps some sort of air purification system would help if you are comfortable that it has been cleaned up properly.

After remediatuon i use thieves oil diffuser and dehumidifyers and hepa air filter as needed
If you keep humidity below 50 most mold cant be active

We may have mold in our HVAC system. I pray not. All is well as long as the AC is not running.

I have been sleeping in tents outside my house & in my car. Then when I can't take the whole thing anymore, I just run off to a family members house & have been doing that lately.
It only takes 1 hour for me to take a nap in one of the bedrooms & I wake up feeling toxic, ill, & my lungs burn like crazy.
Sometimes you really have to live these things in order to understand & believe in them. I have seen & been exposed to mold all my life, but it did not affect me until I went chronic.

I am so sorry. How do you feel when you're out of the house?
We have had our house extensively tested and can't find anything but the ERMI test came back high enough that it looks like there is something going on.
And lo and behold, we finally figured out there is a leak around some of our windows. I pray there's not too much mold underneath because we really can't afford much more; on the other hand, part of me just wants to find a reason for why I still can't feel better so at least we can deal with it.
Do you know what's causing the issues in your basement?
If you haven't found it yet, Ritchie Shoemaker's book is a good resource (but depressing).

Foster 40-80 Disinfectant. Supposedly it is the "best" to rid mold.
And there are zeolite (supplements) that you can take. Such as:
Zeolite AV 90 Vegetarian Capsules
Amazon.
Ductwork...run an ozone generator (I linked which one and where to buy in another post)
with your air handler/furnace
FAN set on constant on
while the ozone generator is on and
you are OUT OF THE HOUSE (for about 2 hours).
Then return (the unit shuts itself off) and quickly open all the windows and leave again for another hour.
That way the ozone is circulating thru the ductwork and should kill any mold
in the ductwork as well as in the rooms.
Cost effective. Ozone unit runs about $125.

I was stunned to learn my ERMI was 42 after testing earlier this year. Have since been trying to figure out how to remediate. Am sure this is a lot of why I'm not getting better, and others have symptoms when they spend time in my house.
I suggest you have the ERMI test to see how bad it actually is (from Mycometrix) and make sure it's interpreted properly. Because repairing visible water damage can mean absolutely nothing (my house is a real example of this), you really want concrete measurements to determine the before and after, as from what I have read remediation often doesn't work and one must be meticulous about it.

The product I often use for mold, fyi, is Vital Oxide. But I've heard using 80 percent hydrogen peroxide is also great if you can get it. Reg. hydrogen peroxide spray (CVS here sells in spray bottles, convenient) is also good though just not quite as strong so use more.

When I am out of the house the nose, throat & mouth burning stop. The lungs feel much better, but after going back many times now just burn on & off.
I feel my lungs feel tighter & something just not right. I guess I have had too much exposure & now I have that toxic feeling without even going back to the house. I vowed to not go back there until it is resolved or I simply just move out.
I bought a filter locally that traps .99% of air particles & particles as small as .03 microns. I had the fan on for a week in a room & that is the room I can tolerate the most, but not for long either. I don't get it, not even an air filter clears it up.
I will try ozone next. I am using BW Detox 2 (carbon powder) & it seems to help when I feel most toxic. My sensitivity to chemicals has gone through the roof & I even feel toxic when eating an onion or when drining Zinger tea, whereas a few months ago I did not have such reactions.
I may consider test from Mycometrix, how much for it?

Air filter may clean air but if have not removed all mold and corrected moisture problems it will keep growing and letting off spores...the spores make you sick
