I'm having a difficult time taking and managing all the pills. I'm currently taking about 70 pills a day, plus two liquids.

The liquids have alcohol in them, which is interesting early in the morning. They taste AWFUL!! I can only have 2oz. of water with them. The Dr told me to use a shot glass. LOL

Then I wait 1/2 an hour and try to ingest the pills.

Most of the pills and liquids have to be taken on an empty stomach. The Mino, Nystatin, Plaquenil on a full stomach.

The pills are getting stuck in my throat and I'm gagging on the pills. Sometimes they get lodged in my esophagus and sit there for a time, very uncomfortable. There is just too many pills.

I feel my life is now revolving around timing pills and when I can and cannot eat. I can no longer grab a snack at will.

I have to take my little shot glass and liquids into work with me. I feel ridiculous.

How does everyone else manage all the meds??

NH_Hiker-I can totally relate! Your description made me chuckle. Reminded me when I was at my peak, 42 pills a day. I had more pills in my lunch bag at work that food at one point.

When you take your pills, do you put them in your mouth and then take a drink? I found if I took a mouthful of water, then popped the pills in my mouth with the water, then swallowed and chased with water... (gawd so much water...) the pills had a less chance of getting stuck.

I totally feel for you not being able to eat when you are hungry!

We eat around our pill schedule...

Hang in there

Thanks Greta:)It really comforting to know others are going through the same issues.

Yesterday I tried to swish the pills around in my mouth with water before swallowing, to get the capsules slimy. I was hoping it would help them go down easier.

The problem I have is, if I have them in my mouth too long. I can't convince myself to swallow them. So I'm standing in the kitchen with a mouth full of water and pills till I just bite the bullet and swallow. LOL

I messed up my schedule as well.

I realized I was missing 3 items on the protocol, so off to the health food store I go to pick up the missing items.

I ended up talking with 3 older women in the store. One of the ladies' husband had Lyme. I listen to her story about him. It was tragic.

Anyway, I returned home latter than I planned. Next thing I know, I'm eating dinner and I haven't taken any meds. Oh crap!

So, I wait till 8:00 to take the meds. Then I wait till 9:00 to take the others and I need to eat with them. I do not like eating late at night! It increases the risk of reflux in the middle of the night.

I woke up at 3:00 this morning with reflux. I only had a piece of cheese. Could be from the cheese, could be I didn't eat enough.

The combination of having to take a lot of pills on a schedule and memory problems is not a good one!

I have the same issue.

I actually am on pill strike right now.

not recommended. I am sure I am doing no good to myself.

I only take my absolute treatment.

my multi vit. is an isotonic so the is easy. I wish all pills were isotonic!

Good luck and I will keep looking here to see what others give as advice.

I went on all med strike last week. I was on vacation and refused to try to bring all the meds with me. I could just see security opening my bag thinking I was some kind of drug dealer. I didn't want to even try to keep the probiotics on ice for travel.

As for the memory. I received a message today from my LLMD. They said we have your meds here, they've been here for a while, please stop by and get them.

These are the meds I just bought yesterday at the health food store. I don't remember ordering them through my LLMD.

I take many pills

I usually take one at a time...sometimes two

Almost always with wter...i may take ten, one at a time...bam,bam,bam...then rest and tenmore. I distract myself with tv or something...i often tell someone i!ll see you soon, or call etc...as soon as i get my pills in

First two are the only ones i tke without food so i pop them in as soon as i sit up in bed in the morning...they are by my bed with night te water

Its not fun but for me if i dont do the right thing with pills at least twice a day i pay...and it isnt wor th h it

My question, over and over, as I read this and similar threads is "How can anyone on 70+ pills a day truly become well?"

Most of our immune system resides in our gut, as well as neurotransmitters, etc. responsible for our mental well being. It is also where essential nutrients are absorbed, without which there can be no building blocks for healing. Imbalances in gut flora alone have tremendous implications, not to mention the toxin burden/removal that must take place.

I learned all of this the hard way...the drugs eventually compromised my system and the result was 5 additional years of illness completely homebound, near death, and able to tolerate only 5 foods.

It is true that some people tolerate drugs for longer periods of time than others before their digestive systems break down...but common sense tells you that the body can only take so much, and it is only a matter of time.

In retrospect, I am eternally grateful that my body forced me to find another way to get well (mHBOT and diet/nutrition)...and that I am med free. It was the ultimate blessing in disguise...

Phoiph, I'm truly happy you found what works for you. Hopefully in time I will be where you currently are.

For now, I need to kill off as much as I can. Once that has been accomplished, maybe diet alone will work for me too. I've already cut out all sugars and carbs to help fight the Candida.

Just the Buhner's protocol for Bart has me consuming tons of pills. As my body doesn't tolerate Rifampin.

lpkayak, thanks for the ideas. The distraction does help. I have also found that drinking a flavored water helps too. I've always disliked plain water. I grew up in Florida and all the water when I was a kid tasted like chlorine, and well water tasted like rotten eggs. No bottled water when I was a kid. LOL

NH Hiker...

Just to clarify...diet alone would never have worked for me...I was way too ill, and my immune system too compromised.

It was regular and consistent mHBOT with a home chamber that saved my life and turned things around...in combination with a gut/nerve healing diet.

You can read this thread (7 pages)...there are progress reports from others toward the end:

Just good to know that there are alternatives to consider if necessary...
