I was diagnosed 4 years ago with chronic Lyme. This time of year is so uncomfortable for me due to severe eye allergies. My eyes burn and tear and become itchy. Anyone have advice on alleviating symptoms? (I have tried every over-the-counter eyedrop and several prescriptions too with no releif).

Thanks!

Hey Lucy, I see you're from MA; me too. This year has been really bad in MA for allergies, I'm sitting here right now amass.

I've had allergies all my life, the past couple of years my eyes have gotten worse.

I've tried all the over the counter eye drops & meds too, with no relief.

The funny thing is, I stopped all eye drops a couple of months ago, and I haven’t any eye issues since, crazy...

I still have all the over systems that go with allergies but, eyes seem to be fine – not a clue why!

Maybe its lyme related, some months are worst than other months for many of us.

Steve

I also live in the Northeast and this year is the worst I have ever experienced for my allergies.

I had itchy eyes where I rub them until they go red and inflamed. Also had wheezing and complete nose blockage. Claritin did not have much effect.

Couple of weeks ago I tried a 10 day water-only fast for a cleanse/detox and it seems to have gotten rid of my allergy problem. I don't know the mechanism involved but I suspect that allergy sufferers have yeast overgrowth and that sensitizes us to allergens more than others.

Getting mold out of my house helped my allergies enormously.

A homeopathic eye drop called Optique 1 has been helpful for me.

Also, an anti-allergy eye drop called Zaditor has also been helpful when eye allergy symptoms get really carried away.

I can see ragweed and goldenrid popping out all over-im in NE too and you are descrubing my hayfever sx

I also have eye sx from lyme-but with hayfever pollen there is more itching, redness and tears

I use over the counter allergy pills-old fashion ones-chlorotrimaton...all the new ones dont work

Also barriers:stay inside, wear glasses and hat outside-take off before coming back in...dowht you can to keep pollen out-it will be on clothes and hair
Use ac and airfilters to keep pollen out of living space

Pray for early killing frost!

Zaditor, twice a day. It used to be a prescription when my Allergist had me try it, and it is by far the best out there for these type of symptoms. And yes, this year has been the worst, but it started very late due to the cold spring we had here in the NE.
