Will you be climbing mountains there? I would think the elevation of cities would not cause a problem for most lymed people. I have been at those higher elevations without any problem, but I think maddog did encounter issues.

I get altitude sickness both before I had lyme and have it now as well. I live at sea level so when we go skiing I have to spend the night in Denver and then the next day we drive out to the mountains. Denver is around 5500 feet and the base of most resorts in Colorado are 8000. Most people do not experience altitude sickness. My husband has lyme and he has no problem. I would recommend staying overnight in a lower altitude area before heading out to the mountains. Tske Advil to reduce head pressure and drink lots of water.

Relax and do not worry so much, you will be fine!!

You should be OK. Many are not affected by it at all .. especially not unless you get up above 7 or 8,000 feet.

I think you'll love it!

Ginger also. It inhibits PDE4 which is inflammatory.

http://www.atsjournals.org/doi/abs/10.1164/ajrccm-conference.2013.187.1_MeetingAbstracts.A2280

Capsules are available...Amazon.

Nature's Answer Ginger - 125mg (a low dose).

Works well with P5P by NOW (which also contains Mg and B2 - to help absorb P5P (B6).

Ginger + P5P = migraine relief.

Red wine (resveratrol)...PDE4 (inhibit) -> Sirt1
-> mitochondrial biogenesis.

Headaches from red wine blocked by...eating almonds...the Romans knew this...the ones (almonds) with the skin on.

Ya know what almonds are high in, right?

Have fun! I've never seen Colorado, but have heard it is beautiful.

unfortunately I am one of those effected. I get very short of breath and feel like I can't breath.

just depends on the person.

Research studies support the use of Ginkgo for reducing the severity of altitude sickness.

Be careful with Ginkgo...in susceptible persons the ginkgotoxin can trigger seizures.

I know this FOR FACT...my son who needs P5P (B6 active form) to stop his seizures.

Read about Gingkotoxin here:

If you have mold toxicity or CFS you might actually do BETTER at a higher altitude.

Here are notes on the better health guy site for Dr. S.

http://www.betterhealthguy.com/biotoxin-illness-conference-2011

"At high altitude, the body makes EPO (Procrit) and some with CFS feel better are 8,000-10,000 feet."

I've been up to 10,000. Strangely, I did GREAT.

My husband who has no health problems got altitude sickness. We're all different.

I remember reading Dr S's observations about altitude and CFS (Incline Village?)

Anyway, I became very ill with altitude sickness many years ago when I went on a ski trip to CO. I was 10-11K feet up. I had been at altitudes of 4-5K feet prior with no problems.

One of my siblings also got very sick at high altitude in S. America. Makes you wonder if there's familial predisposition.

I will just happily remain at sea-level [Smile]

Here's an old thread on it:

Felt better at altitude!...or was it lack of EMF?
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=122323;p=0

My husband also experiences bad pressure in his ears on a plane. I don't have that problem at all. Maybe my body just likes being up high.

He also wants to stay a sea level.

Hubs and kiddos all experience ear pain/pressure when flying to the point we've ended up in the ER due to eardrum bursting for one of them! Me, never. Go figure.
