Is there anyone here who can not tolerate the heat, but was able to increase there tolerance to a sauna.

I am currently just focusing on detox and I normally can not handle the heat. I would like to add in a sauna, but when I did try it in the past it was too much for me.

I went in for about 10 min and still felt horrible the next day. I thought I would start out a bit slower and work my way from there.

Has anyone successfully slowly increased there tolerance to using a sauna?

My hubby had to start out with low heat and short time in the Sauna.

He's now in 20 minutes at a time and has increased the heat a little.

Take your time and work up slowly.

That was why I never considered a sauna, because heat just knocks me out.

Thanks for the input MannaMe. I will start out very slowly with this and work my way up.

Only in a FIR sauna. Regular saunas are too hot and don't provide the detox. I'd get in my FIR when it was cold and let it heat up while I was in it so I benefitted from the rays before it was even hot.

It may take you several more days to "recover" -- but one hot bath too many for me years ago set me back for months with ability to walk.

Yes, as SGK explains, ONLY low heat infrared sauna if you are going to do that. It's not the heat but the penetration with infrared rays that is the benefit there.

While many cases of "MS" can be caused by lyme (and lyme can help reverse it, with support measures) it's time to take a page out of the MS "handbook" so to speak. Avoid heat.

Lyme affects nerve fibers & myelin sheath. Heat can cause damage for those with such neurological issues. Also, lyme causes all kinds of autonomic nervous system dysfunction and heat can play havoc with that. The heart is greatly strained with heat, too, for those with lyme. And that's just for starters. The brain can get too hot, so easily. Most with lyme are very much heat intolerant.

Regular saunas - and too much heat can cause damage -- not just "payback" but damage. Be very careful. Low heat saunas, only but then only at the low heat settings -- and take it slow and steady.

Some may not be able to do that. If you have issues with heat, do not push it. Do not push it. There are plenty of other ways to improve circulation and detoxification support --- but never push or boost.

Know your limits with heat and don't mess with fire.

MASSAGE was far, far safer for me.

Thanks for all the input. Yes, this is a FIR sauna that I have at home. I plan on trying it out and proceeding VERY SLOWLY.

The sauna at the gym was way too hot for me.

Just thought I'd share my two cents. After I treated for babesia my heat intolerance got better.

I went in last night at the lowest temperature which is 106 for 5 min. I felt fine and feel fine today too. I will probably only go in once a week for a few weeks just to be sure that I tolerate it fine.

I think as long as I am keeping it very gentle like this I should be OK. Thanks again everyone for all your input.

I got realllllly sick after my first FIR sauna experience but I don't sweat normally so heat is a real killer for me. My llmd told me after i reported back to him that i needed to skin brush and take a bath immediately after the sauna.

I hope it works for you...i would LOVE to be able to do it but am skeptical after that experience. I got loaded up with toxins that had nowhere to go...

I just want to thank Keebler for her post about heat intolerance. That has been my experience all the way.

The problem with "protocols" is that they often come from an intellectual placeā€¦.or from something someone reads in a book. Then it is made into the gospel.

I'm grateful that I've had enough discernment to not follow many protocols that I knew would not be right for me.

Sometimes we get desperate and try things even if our inner knowing says "no".

If I'm anywhere with temps above 65 degrees F. my body's alarm systems go off in a big way. No way in the world would I attempt doing a sauna.

If I were to share only one thing, it would be to trust one's inner guidance above all else.
