LL gave me some samples to try. I always have hesitation about trying a new Rx because some really rock the boat.
Lunesta is now generic and very cheap. She gave me a few samples of this again, too. Last year when I had tried it in Dec. I didn't think it worked any better than the Ambien CR. My pharmacist says that's probably because it is not timed release like the Ambien.
So, Ambien CR has worked fairly well the past 10-11 months except when it is either full moon, new moon, or my neuro symptoms like twitching is really bad.
Overall, the Ambien CR is great, but would like to be able to sleep the whole way through the night...and be able to dream again.
So, I would like to at least try the Silenor samples soon.
Any feedback??
I still have to price it out since I am self pay. But my pharmacist is very kind and usually treats her customers very well. But I hear it is expensive. I'll check on GoodRx.com to get a ballpark figure. Hopefully it won't be too frightening.
Please weigh in with your comments either way.

My daughter took Doxepin for a few years. It worked for getting her to sleep and may have helped her anxiety, too. She took only 10 mg.
The disadvantage was that it was very hard for her to get up in the morning. We discovered it was the Doxepin by accident when she forgot to take it. She stopped taking it a few months ago for that reason.

Doxepin is an old drug, so it shouldn't be that expensive?? Or am I wrong on this?
I wanted to switch to it from trazodone, but am a bit afraid of it. It's helpful for those with high histamine (me) .. but it has a lot of side effects, so I don't know.
PS .. I prefer plain Ambien to the CR. I take 2/3 pill at bedtime, then 1/3 when I wake up in the night. Works great.

LT, yes doxepin is an old drug! And it's not expensive.
DD has been on it for years, dosages varying between 50 and 100mg. She feels it helps her sleep.

Does anyone know if this can be used on an "as needed" basis? I unexpectedly ran out of AmbienCR and have these samples (3mg).
I also think I have some old 10mg amitriptyline somewhere, but think it (amitrip.) needs to build up in your system, and is not used on an "as needed" basis.
Does anyone have an opinion about which one you would use for say like one night (as I hope to get a refill on my Ambien tomorrow)?
The Lunesta is not working as well the past couple nights, and seems to be lowering my immune strength as I feel worse in general, and on a few points.
