Years ago an llmd told me i should take iodine. He even gave me a book to read about why
I couldnt do it even tho i reallyvwanted to cuz it made my reflux so bad
Recently someone on here suggested i needed iodine cuz of my current sx. I explained i couldnt take it cuz of reflux and they were wondering if it could be taken topically
I was tesearching how to deal with postmenopausal breast pain and a doc has her patients use topical iodine to adjust hormones and help pain
You are supposed to buy over the counter iodine and paint a quarter size spot on the breast for a month or until you see the brown spot 24 hrs after you put it on
She says she doesnt know why it works but it does
Imexcited about being able to do this because maybe it will
help more problems than the breast pain

- It is a good idea to get our minerals in foods when we can.
Just be careful if you eat seaweed. It has its own natural MSG (glutamate acid / glutamate) and can be very excitatory in nature. So, small amount and earlier in the day, not with dinner as it could keep you awake at night.
I don't think this applies to you but anyone with seizures, anxiety or panic attacks should avoid seaweeds due to its excitatory nature. -

With the kind of dropper they have, you could better determine the dose. "paint a quarter size spot" sounds like you could overdose on iodine unless you know exactly the dosage.
It might be hard to know on your skin how much you would absorb but it could be all of it.
Would sublingually work? Hold it in your mouth for a while, with certain foods, etc. That way, it may have a better systemic influence.
I hope you find the exact article you seek. In the meantime, the links above may be of help. Ultimately, it would be good to consult a naturopathic doctor about this.

I've read that Iodine supplementation needs to be balanced with Selenium (the thyroid needs both).
I use Tri-Quench (iodine supplement) topically and it seems to help my energy level when I remember to put a drop on my wrist early in the morning.
