Could we have an essential oil thread?

Anyway, I have tried a few oils.
Concerned because I am so sensitive to things - and am chemical sensitive. I also have dryness issues and don't want to "burn" and further dry out my nose/nasal passages. (Inhaling).

I have tried Thieves and a few others.
1-2 drops with 1-2 teaspoons fractionated coconut oil.

Unsure about the cup and inhale method.
I have dipped my fingers in my little bowl of an EO/FCO and cupped hands and inhaled. OK to do that? Or cup and inhale one does not dilute?
Does this method get the oils into the bloodstream? For "antibiotic/antiviral" use?

I have also put the mix on bottom of feet at night. Most times OK (even after Thieves) the next day.
However......the other night I applied some Thieves this way - and the next day I felt so sick. Like poisoned sick. Unsure if was a herx or my body was saying no to the oils.

Curious with the Thieves -the following morning - I swear I could smell it in my urine. And I felt so dreadful. Was not sure what to do to counter the effects.

These effects don't seem to happen with cup/inhale method.

Also - I found this website in regards to EO's and Mycoplasma:

The biggest regret I have in my entire Lyme treatment (and maybe in my life given my now current situation) is experimenting with essential oils.

I did take them internally (as well as feet and baths). One night I experimented with an oil... I put drops in a capsule and swallowed it down. Ended up in the hospital for 3 days and haven't been the same since. Thought I was going to die and probably should have. Doctors in Daytona, Fl thought I was a "druggie" (common in that town) just wanting sedative/pain killers. So they left me there with NO treatment at all.

At the time I wasn't on abxs because my health was probably 80% and good enough to get by. But I needed Rifampin/Zithro and IV sedatives (administered by a different hospital on that 3rd day) to get me out of the wood-works. The doctor at the 3rd hospital said she believed I was suffering from encephalitis and was lucky to be alive given I was on 72 hours of no sleep and a swollen brain.

I think essential oils are extremely potent & penetrate the central nervous system with ease - and in doing I believe they agitate and "wake up" dormant infections. In my case it seemed to be Bartonella/Mycoplasma-like organisms.

3 years later and I still need 4 abxs & ativan just to keep the symptoms down. If I stop abxs I relapse and end up in hospital with same symptoms as the night I took the oils. I've always had Bartonella but this is like Bartonella on steroids.

Anybody that has ever asked me about oils gets this story. For the record I took YoungLiving Oils (by all accounts a great brand).

Some people swear by the oils and I'm glad it helps them. Like anything else it's not for everyone. For me (and a few others I've spoken with) it was detrimental to our health. And when the people I spoke with had these reactions they were given the all too often Lyme encouragement of... "you're just herxing keep it up."

Susan .. I think the oils are like everything else.. they work for some and perhaps not for others .. as canefan has told us.

I find them effective for a number of things, but I did not discover them until after I was successfully treated for Lyme.

I like using them for immune protection (Thieves), breathing issues, pain, etc.

My preferred method is to put them on my feet or to inhale in a diffuser.

Thanks.

Canefan that is horrible.
What new oil did you try that caused so much trouble for you?

The other night I tried a new oil - Geranium - inhaled - a few hours before I put the Thieves on my feet.

I think the Geranium did not agree with me.

Also think the Thieves might be too strong for me.

I think I do OK with Frankincense and Peppermint.

Last night I was in horrible pain with my neck, shoulders and upper arms. This has been ongoing. So much so that I can barely type or even hold a book in bed.

I used one drop of Frankincense in a teaspoon of FCO and rubbed in the areas. Today I feel not too horrible and have much less pain those areas.

Maybe I should just stick with Frankincense and occasionally Peppermint.

Cane - really - what oil was so bad for you?

I wouldn't ingest the stuff either. Only mild oils. I would used them RUBBED. Next to points with symptoms.

I still use many strong oils but ONLY RUBBED.

I swear they do penetrate well, specially if mixed in some other oils like grapeseed oil, for example. Or jojoba, one of my favorites.

Ingested, wow, I did that a bit, very bits, and I can say it's not a very good thing to do...

Rubbed can though be wonderful. There was a practioner here in LN in the past who could put her lyme pretty under control mostly by rubbing essential oils.

I don't remember if she ingested them, probably not, but I do remember she rubbed them all over. She posted under the name of Farah.

There are though the Rizols. They taste nastily bad, so I did ingest these awful oils. I don't remember if they helped, but I'd rather be sick than take those awful Rizols (ozonated oils)...

But they were conceived to be ingested. Check on dr. K.'s site.

Yes, personally, I'd be cautious about ingesting, but they definitely can be a great support to treatment when used externally! Helps to relieve symptoms sometimes, too!

Hot Epsom salts bath and a few drops of a detox oil are great for helping out a herxheimer reaction.

I love using Thieves in the laundry and diffusing to help ward off illness.
