I went to doc about this nagging pain under my ribs. in the conversation he said my cholesterol was still over 240. he really pushed me on meds. said with my history, weight, and health that meds were not going to make me a ny sicker than I already was but that cholesterol has to come down.

I'm tired of fighting this. he said my cholesterol could be causing these problems. said a very low dose would be fine.

I know what y'all say but he and my family are scaring me. dad died at 67, sister already has two stents and heart problems. other sister's cholesterol is about 300 and she's on meds.

all I know is that I'm feeling like crap and scared. I started walking and I'm watching diet. my sister said she's done all that and still has high numbers.

this is so confusing. but I hate getting a lecture every time I go in there.

is anybody on those meds?

Most people with high cholesterol don't have any symptoms until cholesterol-related atherosclerosis causes significant narrowing of the arteries leading to their hearts or brains.

The result can be heart-related chest pain (angina) or other symptoms of coronary artery disease, as well as symptoms of decreased blood supply to the brain (transient ischemic attacks or stroke).

Statins still suck in my book.

Take them if you feel you must, but I must say I will never ever take them.

My grandmother died of a stroke, my grandfather died of a heart attack at age 42, my brother had a heart attack at age 47, my mother had strokes (which eventually killed her), my uncle had a devastating stroke.

I still won't take them because I don't believe that cholesterol has much of anything to do with strokes or heart attacks.

It has to do with inflammation.

and for the record, my cholesterol is around 160 and I have A-fib

A stroke could kill me, but it won't be because I wasn't taking a statin drug.

I wish there were other alternatives but cholestoff, niacin, you name it all, made me sick.

Did you try questran?

The best explanation as to why medical docs push the statins and why higher cholesterol numbers are not that bad for youthat helped me was how mercola explains it.

I cant cut and paste now so cant give you link. Im sure if you just google dr mercola cholesterol it will pop up

Im refusing statins too cuz they put me in walker /wc 24/7

Now i use them but not all the time. After the statin it was like my leg was broken...wouldnt hold any weight

My dad died of heart attack and mom had stroke but it didnt really disable her. I think all my siblings and some of my kuds are on statins

Some are a little less chance of giving you problems. And you must take coq10 if you take them-but most docs dont tell u that
