I am told that even though factive is in the quinolone family there are far fewer reported cases of nerve / tendon damage as compared to Cipro
I have read most everything posted on the cipro and experienced many of the issues listed but need something to get the Bart under control.
Could it be that factive works somewhat differently hence the reduced incidents?
Opinions please.

I did fine on Cipro then ruptured my Achilles' tendon on day 5 of Factive.
Now I get tendon issues with all the Flouroquinolones.
The fewer reported cases could be because it's prescribed less frequently than the others.
Can you take Rifampin?

Thank you for the reply BoxerMom. I appreciate the input. I think I will just stay away from everything in that family.
You are probably right about the lower incidents being due to lower usage. I hadn't thought of it that way.
I have taken rifampin in the past and did ok with it. My concern with that is there are warnings about developing kidney issues when restarting after it has been stopped.
I don't know what time frame they are alluding to with those warnings. Is it a week, a month?
It has been a few years since I took the rifampin so I would imagine it would be alright. The last thing I need though is kidney issues so I would be apprehensive about taking it again.

If you've been off Rifampin for a few years, your risk is minimal. The biggest danger is with stopping and starting (week on/week off or month on/month off).
You can ask for monthly CBC and Chem panel if you're concerned. I went to a hospital lab for blood draws, with results sent to my LLMD. I never had any problems with Rifampin.
