I stopped my Cefzil a little over a week go because the herx (if that's what it was) was too much to take. I had been on it for two weeks.

Even though it's been a week since I stopped taking it, this herx keeps getting more intense. I even went to the ER yesterday.

Is it normal for a herx to continue to worsen significantly even after stopping abx?

Ugh. It's not likely a herx with abx out of your system for a week.

Could be an allergic reaction. Has that been ruled out?

The co-infections have a nasty habit of flaring wildly when abx are withdrawn. You may need to go back on different abx.

What are your symptoms? What made you go to ER?

Allergic reaction hasn't been ruled out, but if we're an allergic reaction it sure came on really slowly and gradually.

Worst symptoms are difficulty breathing, chest/neck/back pain, overall extreme faintness, blurry vision, night sweats (which I haven't had in months until now), increased tachycardia.

So maybe a coinfection flare?

Those sound like symptoms of Babesia. Make sure to let your doctor know.

Maybe it knocked down the Lyme so that the babesia came to the forefront.

Also, we herx every 3-5 wks... so maybe this is your monthly herx.

Big-time Babesia flare. Get on some antimalarials.

I thought it sounded like Babesia coming out, but I'm so new at all this I needed some advice. I think Babesia is probably my main issue since my cycles have always seemed to be weekly since the beginning.

All my coinfections came back negative, but I guess that doesn't really mean anything.

Thank you all!
