I know I have asked about this before and it tends to come and go, but this time it is the worst it's ever been. I have terrible pain in my back/and inside , low like kidneys maybe or somehting inside there.... now a feel alittle spasm in my urethra I think.

I have so much pain sitting, standing, bending, lying down, everything.... and it feels like two rocks in my back and I am pretty sure it's not muscular.

I took an advil about 40 min ago and no change. would that rule out inflamation? and I am giong to try and really hydrate today and drink some 100% cranberry juice.

no fever. it started couple days ago and just got really bad late last night. I really hate this mystery. last time I went to non literate lyme family dr and she tested me for vanginal bacteria!!! ugh, which of course was negative.

but said it couldn't be something else because I could touch my toes and if I couldn't then it would be something- I forget what. anyone have a clue?

and I forgot to drink water a couple days , but only took with my pills, but felt so dry, so could this just be the dehydration, and if so, do I need dr? like then I'd have to go to Er I guess.

It could be kidney stones. Drink a lot of water and see if the pain moves. My pain moved, it cut like a sharp knife (agony). I went to the ER but they just gave me a sieve when I went to the bathroom to see if it was a stone. They said it could be as small as a grain of sand.

You might want to go to the ER, but they did nothing for me other than have me sit there and wait for it to pass. They knew it was kidney stones.

I also did not drink enough water prior to it happening (hot day).

Three things that can stress kidneys tremendously that you said are going on with you:

1. "forgot to drink water a couple days"

2. "but only took with my pills" (Rx without adequate water stresses kidneys & liver)

3. "took Advil" (that is ibuprofen and that CONSTRICTS the blood vessels of the kidneys & EVEN ONE DOSE can damage, especially if water consumption has not been adequate)

So, whatever else is going on, it's clear that tender loving care of kidneys is at the top of your list.

Getting water - but not a lot at once (that can be very dangerous), go slowly but STEADILY.

With a LITTLE bit of SEA salt and little lemon juice / electrolytes. Follow with clear water so teeth are not bathed in lemon acid.

Absolutely, do not use regular table salt. It must be SEA salt and just a little, spread out.

Still, after days "forgetting" to drink water, just taking in some now will not be a quick turn around. It just can't.

It seems wise that you consult a doctor right away, of course. There could be multiple factors here and you need expert medical advice that will consider all the variables.

Forgetting to drink water for a couple days, though, could put your body into such a state of dehydration that you may require an IV drip. It could save your life.

Ask someone in the medical field for suggestions for some kind of visual cue system so that you don't forget to drink water. This is important to tell them for various reasons.

I hope you feel better soon.

It does sound like stones. Remember, the ureters go all the way to the bladder.

You may need to call your Dr if this keeps up .. or go to urgent care.

Drink LOTS of water.

well wound that explain the coming and going of sx if it were stone??

I am drinking....

I have gotten some releief, maybe from al lthe cranberry juice?

so I could finally lay on one side and I noticed the pain felt now mostly on the rigth. while on my side I stuck my hand into my lower abdomen behind my pelvic bone and could feel somehting painful there. I also went to the bathroom and had some bloody stool. great. (sorry to say)

maybe its my gastroparesis? like uro-paresis?

could that be? sometimes my bladder does not empty. it gets stuck and urine wont come out. I had that last week.

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

Yes it could come and go; my husband gets them... or used to.

He now takes chanca piedra every day... no more stones for the past two years.

Maybe you could go to the health food store tomorrow and look for some?

Do you still have your appendix?

Posted by LisaK (Member # 41384) on :

Keep up the water. You may be able to flush it.

I made an apt for tomorrow.

not expecting too much, but having hope there is a chance they can tell me some thing.

I have all the same sx and went to the ER twice. CT scan showed kidney stones. I got some pain meds for when it gets really bad.

They also give you Flomax which opens the vesicles some and relieves some of the pain while enabling the stone to pass through better.

You can try Motrin in the meantime. For some reason that is what they recommended and it has helped me as I am trying not to take the heavy duty pain meds.

Also, hot baths really helped relieve the agony.

Constant drinking of distilled water helps. And I mean constant.

I think I probably had the kidney stones for some time. Many people have them but you don't feel them until they start to move.

Mine started to move when I did lemon water detox. I believe my body is trying to get rid of the toxins, but it hurts!!!

I hope we both get relief soon. Kidney stone pain is the most severe form of pain known and for me it has been.

Lisa,

Possibly Kidney stones, especially if urinating less than usual.

Pyelonephritis possible: usually has pain and nausea

associated with it.

If you are having diffulties urinating, especially with fever,

nausea, and pain (mid back - or one side or the other),

possibly a urinary tract obstruction.

Are you not concerned with the bloody diarrhea?

Be well,
TheWino

I felt better yesterday a little but today is really bad again. I fell yesterday in the street- tripped over the dog leash. I suppose my overall increased pains everywhere today could be from that fall?

my BMs are not typical but the blood left.

sleeping is really bad. woke up all night. do stones hurt more lying down? sitting is terrible. I don't feel like doing anything. but I have so much to do! it makes me want to cry with frustration.

I am wondering too if a bowel obstruction would cause this?

I hope they find something. I don't care what it is at this point, I just want answers and my biggest fear is they will say they don't know.

2 people I know are in hospital this week. my both hospitals are telling them they don't know what the problem is. different sx. but it is so discouraging to hear that hospitals just done' tknow anything any more. I sure hope this urology place knows what they are doing today for my apt.

TheWino, my friend , a nurse, did mention it could be that pyelonephritis too. but I have had these sx before. and it usually goes away in a few days. this time it is not. would pyelonephritis come and go?

Lisa please let us know how you are doing. Was it kidney stones?

Posted by tulips (Member # 44773) on :

You said your BMs are not typical. Are they loose? If you have diarrhea, your body could be low on minerals. That happened to me and my L lower back would hurt but if I took 2 Potassium caplets, the aching would go away. If you think this could be the problem (maybe because of being dehydrated as well) Potassium might help.

another useless dr experience.

why do I bother.

she was a CNP because in the network here you only now see a dr , if you are lucky, for a procedure.

this one thought she was Moses I think. a student dr came in with her. they're always bright eyed and sweet. ...before they are ruined.

so first thing she asked me aobut was the lyme diagnosis on my chart. funny how no one knows what babs or bart are. she said 'they' were just talking about how lyme can give you non specific sx and how it's hard to dx and asked if I had positive bloodtest for it. I was happy to say yes.

so as it went on she said my sx did not sound anything like stones, my urine was perfect and blahblahblah. so, since I have lyme it's probably a non specific issue that can't really be diagnosed.

is this the new 'black'? you know... like 'orange is the new black' . ha. 'nonspecific' 'undiagnosable' untreatable' sx are now the buzz words for people with late stage chronic lyme?

she said she didn't think my issue was for urology. but said I could get a bladder scope if I wanted or a CT. but she wasn't sure they would find anything- it would only be for my own peace of mind it seemed.

she asked me 3 times how many times I have had this type of sx episode. I told her 'several' each time. she didn't know what several meant even though I said it's been happening for YEARS and that it happens every 2-4 months.

she also told me physical therapy would make me feel good. and gave me a 5 min speech on how great PT is. I was perplexed and asked how this would actually help a pain inside my pelvic cavity or wherever it was coming from. she said because I told her I had back pain. no. no. no.... I told them it started in my back and moved down, and that nothing felt muscular to me, but who am I but a lowly patient. when she examined me and pressed I told her where I felt pain and she said nothing.

see , this is what I am talking about in the other thread I started about DR IQs. not that she *is* a dr., but it's all the same bowl of cherries, isn't it? or it soon will be .

from now on I am vowing to wait until I can get in with a real dr, if the need doesn't outweigh the time. not that that will make any difference in this scenario anyway, but .....

I guess this is all just in my head.

I am so tired of it. so now I sit here in pain wondering. just wondering.

OH how grand .. a CNP .. and how much education does she have?

Any chance you can see a REAL doctor?

Posted by smokingsky (Member # 37863) on :

I would get a CT scan if you can. It is painless and will definitely reveal if you have kidney stones.

Everything you are describing sounds like what I have. I had the CT scan and got diagnosed.

I went in through ER and that seemed the route to go.

I know the pain you are talking about and am sorry you are going thru it.

Try the hot baths, it really works.

Posted by LisaK (Member # 41384) on :

smoking sky, or anyone else- do you think it *could* be muscular? would it come and go like this? and what am I doing to make it reoccur every couple months???

the CNP told me that I would have "extreme shooting pain in one spot, and vomiting" if it were a stone. is that true/??

no dr around Lymetoo.... and I was assured on the phone when I made apt that this woman was the 'best' about women's kidney issues! bah! whatever.

Posted by LisaK (Member # 41384) on :

I even told her about my bouts of not being able to void properly and she didn't even respond. I guess I needed to save that for ANOTHER apointment????

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

My husband never had vomiting with his stones. It can range from really bad pain to extreme pain .. take your pick. There is a full range of pain and manifestations with kidney stones. Everybody is different.

Suggestions:

1. Go to the ER and get a scan

or

2. Go to the health food store and buy a $10 bottle of chanca piedra.

My husband used to get stones all the time. They would come and go. ABout 2-3 yrs ago he had a really bad one. REALLY bad.

The doctor said I can send you to the hospital for a lithotripsy that will cost $10,000 or you can buy a $10 bottle of chanca piedra and get rid of it that way.

Within 10 days the stone was dissolved and he continues to take the herb. No more stones!! He's had stones for nearly 40 yrs .. and now .. NONE.

I was reveiwing my sx and it seems I have the sx for Osteitis Pubis. anyone know about that?

I am trying to look up abit more on it......

Wiki: "Osteitis is a general term for inflammation of bone." (end quote)

The spasms and pain you report are in the soft body tissues. And any "itis" is inflammation. Could be due to any number of reasons and there are many approaches.

Turmeric good, of course. More specific to the issue, though is:

Chanca Piedra - also called Stonebreaker (as LymeToo suggests) is excellent. Sure is the top choice of helpers in my book for such issues. It kept me out of the ER when I had an apparent kidney attack years ago.

There are other lifestyle, nutrient choices I wish you had a LLMD who could help guide you -- but it just seems such a clear and wise move to give Chanca Piedra a try.

If you have a LL ND around, also a good idea.

I do think the doctor you saw was condescending, not stupid. Condescending in what she said about lyme. She likely does not believe what she said about lyme but it seems a stance to keep you happy & quite as she just dismisses you.

If she really believed that lyme can cause all kinds of issues, she should be looking at your symptoms and not dismissing you.

Still, if a CT was offered, other than the radiation issue . . . you could go that route.

If you tried the Chanca Piedra first - today - then you could still get the CT, of course but it may not be needed if the Chanca Piedra helps.

Massage might help. And I do think that some PT treatment, could, too IF it involves some hands on body work. I think the doctor was right about that but still dismissive in her manner.

When you get a tight constriction, sometimes you really need some body work. Myofascial release, etc.

Some yoga moves on your own, gentle of course.

Bones?? What do your symptoms have to do with bones??

Posted by LisaK (Member # 41384) on :

this is what I found....

Osteitis pubis has also been shown in the population of rheumatic patients due to impaired circulation, leading to thrombosis and circulatory obstruction of the venous plexus supplying the symphysis [12]. Scott et al. reported its presence on patients suffering from ankylosing spondylitis [11]. Additionally, Sierra-Jimenez et al, assessing the prevalence of selected clinical and radiological features of tendinous and ligamentous derangements in a consecutive sample of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, announced that 6% of the population suffered of osteitis pubis [13].

I have been thinking all along that it feels like hip flexer pain, so maybe this is the reason? I used to run every day and I was a dancer so it is possible along with inflamation from tick disease, etc.

Posted by LisaK (Member # 41384) on :

my sx are a radiating pain that starts in my flank when it starts, then it moves down into my pelvis and the pain gets worse and sharp and it hurts when I sit, stand, breathe ,cough, walk, whatever.

While all kinds of organs, tendons, muscles, soft tissue can do this. All kinds of nutrient deficiencies can, too.

In addition to the options above, (which you can do now0

it does seem that a physical therapist could help a lot, with an assessment. They are well educated in anatomy and can determine where pain may originate.

Seems like it would have shown up long ago then?? How long has it been hurting you?

Lisa, I did not have vomiting or a fever with my kidney stones. Why not get a CT scan and find out if you have them?

Posted by LisaK (Member # 41384) on :

Lymetoo, I have had this come and go for years. this is another reason I doubt stones, I have no idea.

Smoking- right, I don't believe that CNP about the 'everyone' vomits remark, but I am not sure I'd keep getting this over and over if it were stones, and pretty much always the same experience?

Posted by smokingsky (Member # 37863) on :

Well if it is not stones, a scan would rule it out at least and then you could problem solve in a different direction.

Hi,

I did not read the whole thread, but Renelix from Pekana is very good.

Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field (PEMF)

Cucumber juice.

o my I am in so much pain. i feel like vomiting. is this normal? i know its a full moon. maybe just a flair??

I cannot sit or walk right now. and standing here typing is even hard to do. if this was muscular would it come and go like this? yesterday it was pretty good. and when I woke up today it wasn't so bad, but now it is like a boxing fight in my pelvis.

they just called me back and I am getting in today! yay.....

Posted by LisaK (Member # 41384) on :

so pelvic ultrasound doesn't show kidneys. hm. well, that is anoying. so now what? this is all a load of crap. i'm gonna go throw rocks now.
