I've seen comments here about how people with Lyme should never take steroids. Why is that?

Because they lower the immune system and we don't need that - our immune system is already compromised by the battle and the inflammation.

Prednisone and other immune-suppressing drugs are to be totally avoided by a lyme patient unless required by a life-threatening situation (like when you can't breathe). Read it in Burrascano.
It allows the lyme to go wherever it wants in your body unhindered. So, Burrascano says it can make a case of lyme disease uncurable.
See the bold print on pages 4 and 12 for examples of where this is said.
A lyme patient with steroid use in his past generally will need IV treatment to overcome lyme. Read that at the top of page 20.
"More evidence has accumulated indicating the severe detrimental effects of the concurrent use of immunosuppressants including steroids in the patient with active B. burgdorferi infection.
Never give steroids or any other immunosuppressant to any patient who may even remotely be suffering from Lyme, or serious, permanent damage may result, especially if given for anything greater than a short course.
If immunosuppressive therapy is absolutely necessary, then potent antibiotic treatment should begin at least 48 hours prior to the immunosuppressants." (page 12)
