So I cracked a tooth, a molar, tooth number 5 to be exact. First molar next to pointy tooth. And now it has to be pulled - vertical root crack I think they said.
I have lyme and co. and mold issues. Neuro symptoms that include head buzzing, teeth buzzing, vertigo and pots. I have 4 root canals on teeth 10-14 that I'm still trying to figure out what to do with but first tooth 5 must be done.
So how would you replace the missing tooth? Dentist wants to do implant. I'm not sure with all my issues that this is a good idea. Thanks.

I will one day be toothless because I will refuse root canals and implants.
I'm with you .. I don't think my body could handle an implant.

Removable partial. That is what I have: no implant, or bridge.

Nothing is perfect. You gotta choose what fits to your situation best.
For a permanent bridge, the dentist will take parts of the healthy teeth beside the missing tooth, to place the false tooth.
The problem is that, you lose part of the good teeth.
Then there will be some food infiltration under both healthy teeth (no matter how much your dentist will say it won't have any infiltration, just ask around to check for yourself), and you cannot clean it (as the bridge is fixed).
For years, it will work, but you may lose both healthy teeth due to reasons above, in the future.
My parents are in the 70s. All their bridges failed.
With removable partials, you can clean your teeth well. The dentist does not work on your other teeth to place the partial. So you do not lose any healthy teeth.
I have one partial that is about 9 years old, and still perfect. It was done in Switzerland, by a biological dentist.
disadvantage: sometimes you can see the metals when you smile.
Advantage: you can keep adding new missed teeth, if necessary, for a tiny cost.

Makes sense. Thanks. I had the tooth extracted today and they are making a flipper for the healing period. Then I'll look into a removable partial. Just need to get something without a lot of metal.

agree with above. i just had that tooth pulled. i should have done it a year ago but he wanted to try to fill it to save it...so he got 600 last year and 400 this year....grrrr.

Opus, if you can test each of the metals (to avoid allergies), it would be best...
My lyme doc tested for me, and so far, so good (no reaction to the gold alloy). I lost a tooth meanwhile, and the technician just added it in ONE DAY... Pretty fast.
... 600 and 400!! wow... In Belgium I was paying 50 euro for a filling (less than 100 dollars, for sure).
Here in Switzerland, it is about 200 dollars, I think, depending on materials... I guess, they decide what they want, the way they want and we pay!!
