I have been on Lyme,Bart,Babesia protocol with an LLMD since mid April. I have seen great improvement. I do however have a very bad stretch of EXTREME FATIGUE body and mostly legs every month that last around a week and a half every time. What is happening? My LLMD tells me to stop taking my meds all together if it gets to bad or if I herx to bad. I tough it through it and don't stop my meds because it goes against everything that I read on here and elsewhere. I can handle it and work my way through it but was wondering if anyone knew what was going on??? Thanks

My meds are.....

Doxy
Rifampin
Azithromycin
Mepron...(equivalent Yellow liquid)
Cefroxime

I hope you are on huge amounts of probiotics and watching your diet because candida can make a person VERY fatigued.

I would be dead if I ever took that many meds at once. I don't know how you do it.

Lymetoo,

I am taking 100 billion units (optima) twice a day and a florastor twice a day as well. I am pretty strict on my diet as well and have lost around 22 pounds since starting my meds. Very low carb. To be honest your post scares me a little. I constantly worry about condida, my liver, my stomach and worry that I'm taking to many meds. Is this not a normal protocol for the three; lyme, babesia and bart????

It sounds pretty typically goose. The protocol.. I mean there are others he can switch around.

I have been on several rounds of different antibiotics.

Babs can cause very bad fatigue, along with bart, and lyme. I wouldn't over analyze it. Trust your doctor, and realize this is a long road.

I still get bad fatigue. Some day are good, some days I'm in bed.

I agree with SacredHeart.

If something unusual happens, then I would get concerned.

If this fatigue/leg pain happens like clockwork every month over your lyme cycle, I would say your treatment is working and you are herxing. It sounds like you are blasting those little suckers.

Congratulations!

[woohoo]

For many of us that extreme fatigue was the last symptom to go.

In general, the first symptoms to come will be the last to go and the last symptoms to come will be the first to go.

I agree that you are getting these as herx symptoms so don't worry. Instead, use this symptom to tell when you are finally finished with killing lyme.

So, candida can cause extreme fatigue, too? That may have been my problem. I shouldn't have stopped antibiotics though because lyme cam roaring back. I may have to stay on abx for maintenance therapy once I kick this relapse and keep treating candida at the same time. Is this difficult?

I am familiar with patients taking antibiotics one week per month for maintenance (to keep lyme away). If you do that, it should be easy to treat the candida. Of course, diet will be paramount until you are totally rid of it.

If you are not familiar with the Body Ecology Diet website, give it a good look. My lyme doc recommends that diet.

Thanks, TF. One of my LLMD's had recommended pulsing abx every other week then one week per month. I had quit cold turkey for 3 months and was doing pretty well on Byron White Formulas until symptoms slowly crept back over a few weeks (I thought I was just herxing) and then BAM-- relapse.

I learned I had candida and stopped abx to try to clear that up. I took GSE which I think opened up a few cysts. I am regretting that move. I think I was following other people's protocols, but I learned the hard way we each are different.

After being on abx 7 years I thought I was ready to stop although, truthfully, my labs did not indicate I could. I did the best when I aggressively treated this illness. It went several years misdiagnosed, and it was a bad case by the time I first saw an LLMD. His protocol did not work as well as I would have liked. It's all in the timing, when to deliver what medication when.

Since then I have found two other LLMD's where I fared better.

After experimenting with Buhner's herbs, Cowden, traditional Chinese medicine, and Byron White Formulas, my body definitely needs the more aggressive antibiotics. I agree with you that Dr. B's guidelines are probably the best, at least for me.

We all react differently.

Learning the hard way.

I think that bad stretch is pretty typical. Lyme and these co-infections are cyclical. I still have one bad stretch every month. Over time, with treatment, it's gotten a lot better.
