How can this be treated?

Google it. If it is bad, they kill the thyroid with radioactive iodine. Then, you take thyroid hormone for the rest of your life.

I had temporary hyperthyroid. That can be caused by a virus. It went away in a few months. No treatment was done to me. I went to a great endocrinologist who just tracked my blood test results until all went back to normal.

I knew when I was normal again because I could relax, did not have a rapid pulse anymore, could sleep, etc.

You can't ignore hyperthyroid as it can be very dangerous to your body.
