My llmd contacted me yesterday and told me I have an active epstein barr virus/infection? What does that actually mean? Is it mono, is it just another infection, I am confused. I have had a horrible cold with bronchitis all this week. I have two positive lyme tests, one igenex and one CDC western blot. So this just adds to my existing issues. The doctor has called in valtrex, but my understanding is this doesn't go away. Thank you in advance for any help on the subject. I am so tired of all this.......the more I fight the worse it seems to get.

The EBV is a virus that causes one type of mono. It often activates when you have another bad infection. Treat your cold and bronchitis and take it easy for awhile until it simmers down.

95% of us carry EBV. It is normally dormant, kept in check.
Over 50% of us have often "silent" H. Pylori. It is also a nasty pathogen that uses Fe-SOD (iron superoxide dismutase) and catalase to prevent its lipoproteins from being oxidized. H. Pylori looks to export Cu. It, like many other nasty pathogens, uses ***urease to convert urea to ammonia + CO2***. It also is very hard to cure.
