Trying to figure out if ALA and NAC are binders like apple pectin, activated charcoal, bentonite clay, etc. I know they are antioxidants and attach to free radicals in the body, so I thought they might be the same. Asked LLMD and he said he wasn't sure.

Son started Cowden Protocol yesterday and we need to re-arrange his supplement schedule to accommodate this specific protocol. I want to make sure everything works together and doesn't eliminate/cancel out anything because of what he takes and when. Wish there were more hours in the day!

I don't think so. I think they may mobilize heavy metals, but don't know that they bind the heavy metals... I've always read that charcoal, bentonite, etc. is needed in addition to the ALA &/or NAC.

Not to my knowledge, they are not.

I don't believe that NAC is a "binder". Here's some information about it:

It's a pretty interesting supplement!

Here's some info about ALA -

I don't think it would be considered a binder, either. It's mainly an antioxidant.
