Was anyone ever told that staying away from protein in the form of meat , dairy eggs would help . The theory is that protein feeds the bacteria, parasites because they are made up of protein . Theresa

The person who told you that, well, I don't think I could ever trust them again for anything, anything at all. There is zero evidence of their statement.

Absolutely you need protein, and likely more of it than usual. Skimping on protein can damage your heart, your brain, muscles and so much more. I found that vegetable protein did not provide me with what I needed.

Many have recovered form lyme while eating meat protein. Of course, it's best to choose from organically raised / free range, etc. or WILD fish, not farmed.

Some do okay with vegetarian diet but it's certainly not for every body type. I found it very punishing to my body many years ago.

If you think your body type may do well, do explore how go vegetarian properly, though. Be sure to supplement with TAURINE to protect your eyes and heart and B12, sublingually. Be sure to avoid processed meat "alternative" items and go as whole as you can.

But I certainly do not recommend this. I recommend including a wide range of "clean" animal and fish proteins every day with at least one meal - beyond just eggs.

Yet, for anyone who eats animal protein, it's still very important to also connect with a wide range of vegetable proteins. Get to know all the legumes and nuts possible to round out a varied diet. 2/3 vegetarian protein to 1/3 animal works for my body.

Rotate foods. While it's hard for me not to want eggs every single morning, it's really best to take a day or two off each week. Those are sardine breakfast days, then. My brain loves that (Wild Planet a good brand).

Thank you for these great articles. I will have to reread a few times to completely understand. So, some people actually need more protein due to infection. I also have demylinating disease which I believe requires protein. Theresa

No, staying away from protein in the form of meat and eggs is not beneficial but eating good quality grass fed, organic or as close to organic as possible, meat and eggs is beneficial.

Protein is needed for bodily repair from cartilage to blood vessels and nerves etc…

It is strengthening to the body and necessary for proper adrenal function.

Dairy is not beneficial as it is a damp food and contains sugars which contributes to candida. Dairy is pro inflammatory so not a wise choice with tick-borne infections.

Staying away from meat and animal products is actually what has helped me fight one of my co infections and feel better. So I guess it depends on what you have. For me it has been worth it.

Yes we definitely need more protein. I eat a very small amount of chicken and take my Omega 3's and 6's and also eat lots of vegan protein. Some people feel better on this diet, some not. It's individual and IMO depends on co infections and individual preferences. Whatever works.

A vegan diet does wonders for heart patients (reverses heart disease). Some lyme patients also feel better going vegan. It all depends on how the person feels as we are all different.

I went vegan for about 6 months as my cholesterol was high. I cut my cholesterol in 1/2 by doing this, I then started back on meat. I am going to eat vegan (or vegetarian) again as my cholesterol is up again.

Dr. F. believes that fat feeds the biofilm and the bugs, so he suggests a low fat diet, but one usually needs a good amount of protein in some form.
