Hi folks:

Just wondering what others have experienced.

Do you know which bug causes the quickest relapses?

From what I have read, it is typically intracellular bugs like Bart, Brucellosis, CPN, etc. Dr. B says that "relapses occur within days if medication is withdrawn early."

I know lyme is extremely slow growing and shouldn't cause a rapid relapse. One typically should relapse in weeks not days. My LLMD has confirmed this.

I'm not sure about Babesia or other protozoans like PR. I think Babesia Microti takes weeks, but no idea of WA-1 / Duncani.

I've been reviewing a lot of my notes and seeing when I've had fast relapses throughtout hte years. It has only happened 3 times.
-The first was after stopping Levaquin after 3 weeks. I was sick 36 hours later (in bed with a relapse/herx.)
-The second was 2 years later after stopping Biaxin XL, Doxy, and HH-2. I felt it had been hitting bart. Again, fast relapse.
-Now most recently in December when I stopped Rifampin / Doxy. Fast relapse again.

I've always been able to take breaks and feel pretty good, except for the 3 times above. I even took a 2.5 year break and felt 90% most of the time. But everything has gotten harder once I have been going after the intracellular bugs like Bart and Brucella.

I'm hoping it is Bart as it means I've finally gotten proof this is what is left.

In my experience, Bartonella comes back first, within 24hrs of stopping intracellular medications. This is a huge problem for me. Also, I need intracellular combos, (2 meds) not single meds for best response.

Babesia is next in line, relapsing within 2- 3 days when stopping antimalarials. I have both Microti and Duncani. (Malarone in various other combinations has helped me the most but has not come close to clearing the infections yet.)

The new theory of pulsing meds may help for treating the Lyme infection alone but I'm concerned about the effects that it will have on our coinfections...

As sammy said, Bartonella.

I'm weighing in for Babesia. It's a quick relapse if you still have it.

I just started pulsing 2 week on and two week off after regaining lost ground from a Bart relapse last May. Prior to Relapse I had stopped by my last ABX of mino in March 2015, but stayed on my herbal regimen for maintenance.

Since summer I have been on Cipro, Plaquenil, and Tetracyline, with Cat's Claw, Japanese Knotweed, and CSA Blend herbals for a long time. I also stop the herbals in my two week off cycle.

I was only on Doxy the first two months and felt better. My symptoms returned and were way worse than before within days. Turns out that I also have Bartonella and Babesia. Bartonella symptoms were coming through stronger than Babesia but having both might have caused the very quick return of symptoms.

Also, my symptoms came on very quickly when I first got sick and didn't match up description of how Lyme progresses. From my first joint pain, within two weeks I had joint pain all over, my legs, arms and face was tingling.
