Comment from Dr Alan MacDonald on Nematode Worm Co-infection in Lyme Borreliosis
7 Jan 2016
(slightly edited for typos and to separate paragrpahs for easier reading by neuroborreliosis patients)
"Recently Dr. Eva Sapi has been promoted to Full Professor at the University of New Haven and Chairman of her Department (Biology and Environmental Science) This promotion is very well deserved.
A consequence of her promotion is that she will have significantly less time to work in her laboratory.
Before her promotion, she was actively researching the "worm" (micro nematode) in Ixodid ticks... I am not sure if this research is still active. There have been no publications from Eva on this topic.
I suggested to her...that since the Borrelia is actually two concentric cylinders separated by a cell wall- that a compartment inside of a compartment model [namely the concentric cylinders of Bb- might be a great research model for investigating the inner compartment of the Nematode ("Worm") to search for borrelia spirochetes and other pathogens which live side by side with the nematode worm in the tick gut.
I too have seen Dr. Burrascano's writings about the efficacy of Ivermectin in treatment of Lyme Disease. Others , including Dr. H, are prescribing Ivermectin for select patients. So the word has gone forth about Ivermectin and the importance of the tick transmitted nematode.
In order for the tick to transmit the nematode to a human, the route of such transmission would necessarily by REURGITATION Transmission (as opposed to Salivary gland transmission, which has been in vogue for many years.)
I am a proponent of regurgitation of tick gut contents to the human at the time of tick bite.
I am in support of the notion that a second reservoir for TBD pathogens -namely pathogens residing - INSIDE of the Nematode Gut,which lies INSIDE of the Tick gut.
You are free to post this note in whole or in part.... Alan Jan 6, 2016"

- Thanks for keeping us in the loop, Elena. Really important considerations here. -

I second Keeblers statement in reference to your post. Have been posting about the nematode co-infection for a long time.
Burgdorfer found Filarial Worms in the original ticks he dissected and as an aside found the spirochetes. So important to treat this in order to get well.
BTW, Had to re-register as I was accidentaly locked out of lymenet.
My former aka was glm1111.

Morgan11, do you mean you were locked out of Lymenet when trying to post just now re worms?
I have had enormous problems with being unable to access Lymenet (Ive written about these in a separate thread here (http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/3/35771)

I was locked out when trying to post on another thread. First time since 2006 that this occurred.
