I am going in for dental surgery and cannot take
pain killers that affect serotonin as I have had
serotonin syndrome.

Also cannot take codeine as it makes sick to my
stomach.

Does anyone know an alternative pain killer? I
don't want to go trough this without a pain
killer.

Thanks!

Try clove essential oil. Careful applying it, though. Google it until you find some articles that you like.

Clove has been studied by researchers and dentists and has proven to be effective.

Clove oil is far too hot for me, with burning mouth. Test it out before you need it to see how your mouth tissue will do with it. It may be that if you mix it with a carrier oil, that will take the heat down and still work well.

MAGNESIUM is key to comfort

ENTERIC COATED PEPPERMINT tablets

CORYDALIS - see the posts here about that:

I don't know what they are called but you might get some of those very dense fibered long swabs to put a drop of clove oil on . . . and then you can experiment with adding maybe olive oil or some other food grade oil to balance the heat.

Such an oiled swab would help keep it longer in your mouth. Might be a bit tricky for sleeping, though.

Myrrh is another essential oil with dental applications that may be worth looking at if clove doesn't suit.

Will they let you take ibuprofen? Sometimes they don't after surgery because it can cause bleeding.

I recently had sinus surgery and I didn't take any of the prescription painkillers. I just took a lot of Advil and it worked.

Obviously, it's not as strong as the prescriptions though so I'm not sure if it would meet your needs.

When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I did not use pain killers. I used the following 3 homeopathic remedies: Arnica, Hypericum, Phosphorus.

I rotated through all 3 remedies until the bleeding stopped, and then I alternated between the Arnica & Hypericum until the pain went away.
