Several rounds of doxycycline over the past five years are likely the cause of the problem I developed processing sulfur. Over the past couple of months I've been taking Therelac (once a day), which is helping.

But now I'm about to start on doxy again--reluctantly, because I don't want to backslide on the sulfur issue. I know probiotics are important while taking antibiotics, but what kind and how much?

Should I up the Therelac dose? Or keep it at one per day? Perhaps add something else? I've been happy with Therelac, but also looking into Dr. Perlmutter's formulas (Garden of Life).

Thanks for your help!

I've found great help with Custom Probiotics D-Lactate Free. You don't need to take very much of it to help.

I would take that and a Theralac once a day. It should cover you very well.

Killing out the microbiome can really cause some problems. I have extreme food sensitivities now.

Thanks, Lymetoo. I discovered that I have a CBS gene mutation, said to be often caused by antibiotic use (yup). The sulfur-containing foods I'd always enjoyed (onions, garlic, broccoli, cabbage, chicken, etc.) suddenly depleted my serotonin. Horrible feeling.

Therelac has helped me, and also molybdenum. Some people have reported good results from taking charcoal. Maybe one or more of these could help you.
