Our puppy is due for her Lyme disease vaccine and I am wondering if anyone knows if this a good vaccine or not? We live in an area with ticks and we already have Lyme ourselves.
Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Do you have the name of the vaccine? I'd try doing some research on it once you find out, and check with several local vets to get their opinions. Wish I knew more and could be more help. I do know vaccinated dogs can still get Lyme and other TBD's, so you will need to use other protective measures too.

Another protective measure that folks are doing here is rubbing/misting Orange Guard on a dog's fur, besides what they get from the vet/pet store. It's another layer of protection. Protection for 24 hours.
Orange Guard comes from oranges - it's how oranges protect against bugs. It's an essential oil, found in hardware stores and healthfood stores.
Put a little in a spray bottle, fill with water and spray.
I use it as my tick repellent, on clothing and gear. Use other essential oils for skin.

As Tincup said, check out the vaccine thoroughly.
The human vaccine turned out to be a disaster actually giving people lyme disease and was pulled from the market. Inquire about the development of the vaccine. How is it different than the human vaccine? Is it safe? That's the main question. Is it effective? Ask a lot of vets.
As Robin123 suggested another idea is using a natural approach.

- If you have a LL naturopathic doctor near you, call them for suggestions, even if you are not their patient, they should have some ideas for you. Surely they would know all the good vets in the area.
You could call your local or state naturopathic association to see which vets they might recommend for pets. &/or:

My dog was/is very sensitive to vaccines and several meds so I've needed to use other options.
Essential oils can work really well as repellants for ticks, fleas, mosquitoes, etc.,... I use just a few drops of atlas cedarwood essential oil and rose geranium oil on my dog (drop of each behind ear & base of tail).
We live in an area with a lot of ticks and since we got adventurous Lab 3 years ago she hasn't had fleas, mosquito bites or ticks! We spend a lot of time outside so we're also really careful about inspecting her
