I'm on a cocktail of meds from my LLMD.

I got bronchitis, and I am taking Bactrim ( not prescribed by my LLMD bc he lives far away). I did call my llmd's office and they said it was ok for me to get on an antibiotic that hit the infection prescribed by a doc.

All of the sudden, my upper back and neck are super stiff and hurt deep down. Some of my joints are sore and my muscles are achy. I have Lyme, babesia and Bart.

I started Bactrim last night and took a dose thirty minutes ago. Could these symptoms be due to herxing from the Bactrim?

Ouuuuch! Thanks for any input.

Could be.

Dr. K uses Bactrim for Lyme, and LymeMD wrote that he thought it worked and crossed the BBB in much earlier posts.

I'm not sure why it fell out of fashion but it might have something to do with a strong correlation with SJS and Sulfa allergy.

Bactrim recked me...i hear its good for bart but i think it scared ketes into hiding and running throughout endothelial linings causing immune cascade.or had mild sjs is what one nurse said....i think it suppressed bone marrow production for a bit too...but for some its pretty benign...some not ..if you have cbs mutation i think its bad..dr k uses trimithoprim w/o sulfamethoxazole its like 100 yrs old..can you get anything else ..is brochitis cpn ? Or babs sx...http://briandeer.com/septrin/bactrim-effects-24.htm

I'm pretty sure it's bronchitis. They didn't see pneumonia on the chest X-ray. Feels like bronchitis. I'm allergic to penicillin, and every other antibiotic he typed in the system interacted with other meds.

One of my herx sx when starting Bactrim was horrible pain in my upper back/scapula/shoulder. I hope it helps your bronchitis and that you don't get to feeling any worse from it.

I can't remember what other antibiotics you are on. None doing double-duty against Lyme (&Co's) and bronchitis - apparently.?

FWIW some immunologists recommend prophylactic antibiotics for patients that are immune deficient. (instead of or in addition to IVIG).

Mine has Rx'd Biaxin but I don't take it.
Praying my Gamunex will keep me infection free the next few months - winter/spring.
