This is the second time this has happened. This is essentially my first real Lyme abx protocol and I am sucking at it.

I know that herxing means an intensifying of symptoms but you guys I can not take this. Droid said the other day that he couldn't even lift his arm to drink water; that's how I've felt for the past 24 hours on ONLY 100 MGs of minocycline.

I was doing ok on 50 and just feeling minorly foggy and out of it. Then I amped up to 100 and I'm leveled.

Just lying here, can't put enough of a thought together to even go get food from the fridge. It's just exactly the "flu like" illness people describe only you know you might be feeling this way for like, ever.

I'm not sure if I should push through this. I don't know how crappy I'm supposed to allow myself to feel here.

I'm worried that if I can't handle this I'll never get better and keep deteriorating. Am I even killing anything or just making myself feel like crap?

Should I stop for a day? Two days? Start over? Or push through it?

I couldn't handle mino but you might pm TF or do a search for her posts (She posted her journey). I remember reading that she went through hell and back and got rid of lyme on abx.

Jordana I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly... I've been there for sure. [Frown]

Are you doing everything you can to detox? Liver, kidney, lymph... Gotta keep everything moving on out of the body.

Listen to your gut, if you really feel overwhelmed, perhaps you can back off for a day or two, let your body catch up, then start up with a smaller taper up (75 instead of 100?)

I couldn't handle mino, but did okay on doxy. Mino might be stronger. Shouldn't a herx only last a few days? Sorry, I can't remember the answer to that.

If it makes you that ill, either you can't take it or you need to reduce your dosage.

This is where this all gets very confounding.

When I'm taking this stuff I can barely get a shower every couple of days.

I'm taking Burbur/Pinella, alka seltzer gold today and colestipol ( cholestyramine).

I was lying here today thinking, well, I could do an epsom footbath or a coffee enema but honestly I can barely drag myself across a room.

My "Activities of Daily Living Score" is circling the drain.

Okay that was what I was trying to figure out. How ill is too ill?

If it was only going to last a week I could probably tough it out, but it doesn't seem like that's likely.

We've all been there (too ill to drag ourselves across a room).

How ill is too ill? See if you can find TF's old posts. I remember her saying her husband had to carry her. She still forced herself to work out every other day. Detox/exercise, it still needs to get done.

I know when I can't function on something I stop taking it and let my body recover, or I quit it altogether.

It is possible though that this is your week of killing lyme (its cycle). If that's the case, coffee enemas will help. You might be a good candidate for pulsing abx too.

I had to start at 50mg every other day and ramp up. It took me months to get to full dose. That along with Rifampin helped some of my symptoms though it was rough.

Cholestyramine can also intensify Lyme symptoms.

If you're wanting to change your dose, you should call your LLMD to tell him what's going on to see what he wants you to do.

Sympathys and hugs..i am having a hard day too...you need food..good thinking with the binders..hows the itching?

My llmd does not answer my calls [Frown] .

I didn't know cholestyramine could intensify Lyme symptoms. I thought it was a toxin binder? I don't take it just for that -- I have bile reflux which was how I got the prescription.

Well, I woke up a little achy but feeling much better after skipping a dose.

It seems that if I'm feeling that awful on 100 mgs, which really is probably not killing anything, that I just can't handle the side effects of this med.If it was a killing dose and I was that sick it would make sense but wouldn't I have to be at 200 or 300 to kill Lyme?

I couldn't handle mino either. I was on the floor for 2 weeks, the vertigo and body heaviness was terrible. Then I developed an allergic reaction and my neck swelled up.

Mino turned my friend's lips blue. Be careful.

I hate mino. I just hate it.

It's occurred to me today that I've been working on Lyme since October, when I got a brilliant boost of four days' worth of aztreonam and flagyl as they yanked my gallbladder.

After nearly a year of trying to figure out what happened to me -- that was the clincher.

I took Macrobid which kept my nerve symptoms steady for seven days. I took Bactrim but got uncomfortable when this weird shock kept shooting through my arms and fingers and then tore up my bladder somehow.

I started the mino on January 27, stopped for a week because I was miserable and then went back on.

Two days ago I took another break and took my little 50 mg chip of a pill tonight.

Through all this the only thing I've been able to keep up without feeling like I was going to die was Buhner herbs religiously.

I sure hope they're working.
