I am aware of IGenex as a good lab for testing for Lyme disease. What exactly should I be asking my doctor to order? The complete panel to start with? The problem is my doctor won't be able to interpret it, so I also posted a question about an LLMD near me in the other forum. Thank you for any help you can give me on the testing itself.

I personally would get test #188 and 189 .. The two Western Blots. If money is not an issue, then get the coinfection tests also. Be aware that the coinfections are hard to pick up with a test.

Most GOOD LLMD's go by symptoms.

When you get the test results, come here and let us give you some feedback on them.

Have you been tested before? This is solely my opinion, but if it is your first one, I would try the 1st option which is $275, I think. That seems to be the first choice with the LLMD I have been researching. I haven't seen him yet my appt is in Sept.

But, he sent me a packet in the mail, and the first Igenex test is what he has listed.

I ordered my Igenex test prior to making an appt. So he won't need to order another one for me. My first test was done at a regular lab, and it was negative on my IGG and only one positive band on my Igm. My ELISA test was also positive.

But, My Igenex test that I paid for, about 1 month after that test, just came back Friday and I am cdc positive on my IGm, and 4 positive bands on my IGg, with one IGg that is IND/or equivocal.

I suggest you at least learn how to read them yourself and request a copy from your doctor when they come in. Take the copy with you when you find a LLMD.

Google: how to decipher Igenex results stopthelymelies.

Type that all in the search bar and read it and learn it. So when you get them, at least you will know how to read them.

Thank you both for your comments. Yes, this will be my first test, and I have other weird blood test results (e.g., high RA factor), that I believe will require the Western blot testing. When you say the first test, do you mean the basic Lyme panel that is first listed on the order form? Thank you!

Ok, I found a copy of the Igenex test request form. It's code 4090 Basic Lyme Panel. Iam not sure if that is the only test my LLMD will require, but it is listed in his packet. It would be up to a LLMD to decide what you really need.

Remember, it's just my opinion and I am new to this myself. I am just suggesting what I would have done for my first test. My first was done through Quest, ordered by my GP, who is not ILADS minded at all.

This forum has helped me a lot and I still have alot to learn. But if I was in your position again, I would have tried the Basic Lyme Panel first.

4090 Basic Lyme Panel is the Western Blot, IgG and IgM. That is the cheapest lyme test and likely all you will need at first.

I would not order the Complete Lyme Panel.
