See "Epidemiology" section:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babesia

So one out of four people there have the piroplasms in their blood.

I'm not sure how to articulate what my point is. I suppose I am surprised. Perhaps most cases of babesia don't cause illness?

Otherwise 25% of RI's population would be having night sweats and incapacitating fatigue, no?

Yeah, the thing with Lyme is that it exhausts the immune system so other pathogens can start to expand their territory. If you have 1 percent parasitemia from babesia you won't feel sick and eventually your system can clear it.

If you have 10 percent, you're in the hospital.

Think I recall reading that people with a healthy immune system - which probably means they don't also have Lyme - can usually clear it on their own.

I think most people with babs don't know they have it. I had it over 20 years and had no clue (symptoms were mild).
